The Only U.S. Oil Tanker in the Middle East Ran Aground and Is Leaking Fuel
PJ Media ^ | 09/25/24 | Rick Moran

The USNS Abraham Lincoln strike group, currently in the Middle East, is without any means of refueling after the oil tanker USNS Big Horn ran aground off the coast of Oman. The Big Horn is the only tanker in the entire Middle East, and the Navy is currently scrambling to come up with a replacement.

Should I mention that our most important ally in the Middle East might be at war with Iran in a few hours?

Initial Reports that the USNS Big Horn (T-AO-198), the only Replenishment Oiler with the U.S. Navy currently Deployed to the Middle East, has “Run Aground” off the Coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea and suffered possible Serious Damage; with her currently being Towed to Dubai.

“ USNS Big Horn sustained damage while operating at sea in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations overnight on Sept. 23. All crew members are currently safe and U.S. 5th Fleet is assessing the situation,” according to a statement from a Navy official provided to Sam Lagrone at USNI News.

The military has an $800 billion budget, and we have one — exactly one — refueling tanker in the entire Middle East?

So no big deal, right? We can just hire a commercial tanker to refuel the strike group and carry aviation fuel for the 90 fixed-wing and helicopters that the Abraham Lincoln carries.

Unfortunately it’s not that simple..

What a coincidence. Creepy Joe’s secret ally in the M.E. would sure benefit from a disabled U.S. fleet.

The logistics and supply fleet is a huge strategic vulnerability. We have to thank for this a number of ill-considered laws like The Jones Act which, like most of what Congress does, has achieved the opposite of what was intended. This isn’t a problem we’ll solve in time for the next war. If we are to “win” the next war it will be because a myriad of small countries come to our aid. That’s a shaky thing to count on as most of them will try to duck and stay out of the line of fire. Helping us will put them directly in the line of fire.

Win is in quotes because the real win would be not fighting the war in first place. The way you avoid fighting is to look overwhelmingly strong. What does it project if your leader is defeated by a couple of stairs?

Change the name "Big Horn" to USS John Wilkes Booth.

We used to have fast merchant tankers, outfitted with the neccessary gear to refuel US Naval vessels while underway. They were PANAMAX size.

The ships were in commercial trade but regularly practiced under way replenishment with the Navy.

They were called National Defense Tankers.

I haven’t kept track, but you can probably blame the Navy Dept. directly for having perverted priorities.

From a guy who has received letters from home while in the gulf of Oman, I have faith in Navy logistics.

Per Wikipedia....
Complement: 103 (18 civilian officers, 1 U.S. Navy officer, 64 merchant seamen, 20 U.S. Navy enlisted personnel)

About right... diversity training and climate change threats are far more important than actual training.

Au contrare. Under the Jones Act we had a fleet of merchant ships, built with Naval support, that ran in the commercial trade and available to the Navy when ever they wanted.

Any of the subsidized US Merchant ships were available to the Navy to be comandered into their use.

This was made quite clear to me during Desert Storm when our US flagged ship was told where we should go, but the foreign flag ships had to be asked.

NOTHING the puppet administration is doing in the middle east is working.
It’s a devastating CLOWN show!
What ever happened to the floating dock they built in Gaza?
Did it float all the way to China or sink?
What a mess they’ve created from Afghanistan to 5 forgotten US hostages taken by Hamas.
No wonder Iran wants the female clown elected.
She’s stupid, hates Israel and Americans.
