A gunman hijacked a Los Angeles Metro bus and led police on a wild chase that ended with one passenger dead and another injured in downtown L.A. early Wednesday, according to police.
For more than an hour, a cavalry of police vehicles followed the bus as it slowly made its way from Vermont Knolls in South Los Angeles north into downtown, where it ultimately stopped after police used spike strips to puncture the tires.
A SWAT team surrounded the vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. near Alameda and 6th streets. An officer yelled over a speaker: “Metro Bus 5858 this is LAPD. You’re surrounded. Come out with your hands up, one by one.” Video showed the driver sitting motionless with his hands raised.

An illegal, spreading diversity?
I didn’t like that movie
yes it does. doesn’t seem to any rhyme or reason to hijacking a bus with three people on it at 2 in the morning.
Coming to a location near you?
I don't like Julia Roberts.
Probably coming here too. Spokane downtown is lovely with beautiful stores and restaurants, but we don’t go downtown any more after dark. Too dangerous. My lawyer is downtown, and when I went to see him midday last week, sign on the door said “Locked, please call our phone number and state your name for entry.”
Our new Dem mayor is turning downtown into a disaster area filled with fentanyl using creeps.
“Metro Bus 5858 this is LAPD. You’re surrounded. Come out with your hands up, one by one.”
But what did the bus respond with to that request?
Goose butt lips.
John Kobylt at KFI radio will be all over this.
Five la Times “reporters” to deliver this story.
And not one of the five knew the difference between “cavalry” and “cavalcade”. Nor did the copy editor.
Don’t know the LA radio scene but sure wish Doug MacIntyre still had a show.
A public bus at 2:00 am in Los Angeles. What could go wrong?
FTA: ... a cavalry of police vehicles followed the bus....

What in the heck is a cavalry of police vehicles? Were the police cars atop horses?
