Former President Donald Trump announced in Wilmington, N.C., on Saturday that if elected, he would end all sanctuary cities in the United States.

"I'm announcing a new plan to end all sanctuary cities in North Carolina and all across our country," Trump said while referring to Democrat challenger Kamala Harris as the "invasion president" if she's elected.

"As soon as I take office, we will immediately surge federal law enforcement to every city that is failing, which is a lot of them, to turn over criminal aliens," Trump said. "And we will hunt down, capture every single gang member, drug dealer, rapist, murderer, and migrant criminal that is being illegally harbored."

Does the federal gov’t have the constitutional authority to stop states from having sanctuary cities? I don’t think so.

As the Federal Government is responsible for immigration, and to enforce their authority they can stop sanctuary cities

I'm not that much of a Constitutional expert.

I expect there are creative ways to collapse the Sanctuary State Governments, then solicit and fund Legacy American Citizens to sue Sanctuary State Bureaucrats for damages in Federal Courts.

As the Federal Government is responsible for immigration...

That is the rub...the Feds have failed their responsibility...(if illegals arrive in US cities)...this implies the right of states/cities to deal with the problem like DeSantis and Abbott. If your argument is applied they would be denied any ability to deal with illegals. This gives the left the same "power" to declare sanctuary cities unfortunately.

Border control (federal - under constitutional authority and mandate) is not the same as state policy within state borders (no constitutional federal authority).

The “Progressives” (lovers of gov’t command and control) have found lots of creative ways to ignore the constitution and become essentially totalitarian.

BTW, the Constitution is YOUR document, the only legal bulwark to protect freedom against the tyranny of the feds. I encourage you to learn the Constitution.

The law is clearly on his side. Section 1324 title 8 makes it a federal felony to encourage illegals to live here.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1324

(A)Any person who—

(iv)encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or
(v)
(I)engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or
(II)aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts,
shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).

(B)A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs—

(iv)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.

Considering the opposition he encountered during his term, he got a lot done.

I don’t think it’s a spinal problem.

I think it’s a mental problem... at best. An evil problem most probably.

These guys ain’t ours. We just don’t know it yet.

Wake me when Governors, Mayors, City Council members+ are arrested, prosecuted, jailed or, be still my heart, least of all, FIRED, for violating (Federal/the) Law.

Course, the EASIEST, & most LEGAL, solution: eliminate the (illegal) welfare state in all its shapes, matters & forms.

THE WALL wasn’t started till 4th year and he did it all within executive powers., DEPORTING OMAR FOR IMMIGRATION CRIMES, INDICTING THE COUP LEADERS ALL WITHIN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH POWER no congressional approval or action required.

In January 2018, Biden confessed and bragged about a crime see the clip below. No investigation, no indictment. Think of how the US and the world would be better off had Biden and Hunter been imprisoned.

Comey laid out the crimes of Hillary on national TV and then said, no prosecution. TRump’s AG should have taken the report day 1 and indicted her after Trump called her criminal for 128 months.

Biden public confession:

"But even Dresden and Berlin made it through to today after the Allies set them back."

Yeah, after the Allies rebuilt them. Why does the US do that after fighting a war? It used to be the victor gained territory and other national assets through the "spoils of war" doctrine.

Dresden was in the Soviet Zone, and even into the 1970s, there were still a lot of bombed-out buildings there.

8 U.S. Code § 1325 - Improper entry by alien defines improper border crossing as a misdemeanor first offense and a felony second offense.

Federal immigration officers have the authority to arrest and bring to trial, or deport, or both, any alien found to have entered these United States improperly.

Again, the LOCATION is key here.

As I said, the feds have authority over the border and who crosses. But the feds generally do not have authority over what is within the State borders.

Once the illegal crossing is made, it generally is up to the states to deal with it. But in this case, the feds have screwed up so badly that they should at least help round up the illegals but under and with State cooperation.

The States are generally constitutionally sovereign against federal interference.

The law does not support that claim. "La Migra" is well within its authority to raid suspected illegal immigrant employers anywhere, any time.
