Republican Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) suggested that North Carolina’s GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson should take legal action against the media or exit the race.
“If the reporting on Mark Robinson is a total media fabrication, he needs to take immediate legal action,” Tillis said in a Friday post on X. “If the reporting is true, he owes it to President Trump and every Republican to take accountability for his actions and put the future of NC & our party before himself.”
Tillis’s remarks on social media come a day after an explosive CNN report revealed Robinson made a wide range of inflammatory comments on a porn site over 10 years ago, including saying that he is a “black NAZI” and calling for slavery to be brought back. CNN reported that Robinson made those comments between 2008 and 2012 on a website called “Nude Africa.”
“Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it [slavery] back. I would certainly buy a few,” he said, according to CNN.
Robinson said the story was false and vowed to remain in the race.
“Let me assure you, the things you will see in that story, those are not the words of Mark Robinson,” Robinson said in a video posted on X. The video was shared shortly before CNN published the report.
“You know my words. You know my character, and you know that I have been completely transparent in this race and before,” he added. “We are staying in this race. We are in it to win it.”

1st, The Hill cannot be trusted anymore.
2nd, Mark Robinson is not the kind of man to be sitting around fapping and commenting on porn sites.
Maybe Tillis is?
He seems to be saying he said those things, without actually saying he said those things.
Sure, he should sue for defamation but a)the case wouldn’t see a preliminary hearing in a courtroom before the election and b)defamation lawsuits are near impossible to win.
Sounds to me like Tillis just wants to scuttle Robinson’s candidacy.
That's my assessment too.
Like a non-denial denial.
Roger Pennington did the same thing to Mark Harris and guess who our 2024 R candidate is?
Mark Harris
Thom Tillis is a retarded idiot
Tillis is the Asa Hutchinson of NC. Another RINO goobtard that should never have been elected.
He may be an Assistant Democrat but he's still better than a Marxist.
If it’s from ‘The Hill’, it is 100% guaranteed to be a fraud at some level. When they kicked their co-founder, John Solomon, out, they went full-blown stalinesque.
I’m afraid those are two names I’m not familiar with.
He does— Tillis is such a FRAUD! A Big Tobacco Democrat masquerading as a “Conservative”. Quite the liar and check his voting record. Tillis is going to be primaried and kicked out just like Sen. Burr was. Now NC has Senator Todd.
The issue is GUNS people and the 2nd Amendment. The Tobaccos slime clowns care about one thing—getting people hooked on tobacco and cash flow. All Tillis’ ads talk about is “hepping the poor!” with handouts. Guy is not about people lifting themselves up— he is about pouring money at things and they never work. Really a piece of work Tillis.
Tillis is definitely saying that— trying to pull a fast one, from a RINO pig. Tillis is an embarrassment, and he is also a fraud Tobacco attorney.
Not too bright- was an attorney for the huge firm representing Lorillard Tobacco. Fake and lying most of time- and no conservative whatsoever.
I didn’t know that. That certainly reinforces my gut feeling about his motives.
It just seemed like a disingenuous demand from one Republican to another to be leveled at this late stage in an election. Particularly considering the source of these accusations.
If this report is fabricated, it would clearly reach the level of malice - no question.
He has not only an obligation but a duty to file suit if such allegations are just made-up, malicious lies to hold those who did so accountable and deter such conduct in the future - not just to clear his own name.
That did not happen. Burr announced all the way back in July 2016 before even being re-elected to his final term that it would be his final term and that he would not run for re-election again in 2022.
