Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) gambit to attach the SAVE Act to a stop-gap spending bill failed in the House on Wednesday after Republicans opposed the bill.

The six-month stop-gap spending bill, otherwise known as a continuing resolution (CR), failed 202-220.

Fourteen Republicans voted against the legislation and two voted “present,” while three Democrats voted in favor of the bill.

Fed.gov hasn’t had a real budget in something like 22 years

Tons of pro Trump people on X-com are pissed about those in the list here who voted to reject the measure (& vociferous MTG and Massie voted “present,” their reasons will not assuage lots of angry R, and like 4 Dems voted with the R’s also — suspect they were doing that only to not lose in close districts that want that.

Some understand like most here, but they seem less that the perhaps louder “pragmatists.”

Why be pragmatic when you are going to lose anyway? Senate no control, even if luck; FJB vetoes).

Might as well vote single issue.

I would like to see the gov shut down but the dems will blame us forever on that as usual.

Shut down gov saves money and prevents crap passing.

This of course assumes the Dems do not start WWIII all the way.

We need solid control of both houses, even filibuster proof in Senate, and R presidency and for ONCE to not have a worthless lame duck Congress, out of meaningful control for the good guys, to screw up our new president in office.

Sigh,

W

The SAVE act was already passed in July.

Senate sitting on it. Jerks.

So it was now in this CR bill, but the senate is just going to strip it, and send it back to the house, and then instead of delaying, shutting down for once NOT going home for Christmas in the name of these USA, they will just stick us with no SAVE act anyway and crap until March.

Remember how we were going to get TOTALLY RID of Obamacare back in the day?

All we did was get rid of a few things INCLUDING THE TAX for scofflaws who did not buy it like they were supposed to.

We never get rid of ANYTHING.

NEWT G could not even symbolically get rid of funding for the NEA — national endowment for the arts “Piss Christ” lovers? Remember? Nope. Small, budget, no importance, they did not succeed. PBS is still a federal welfare case too.

This was why I think the few did not want this CR passed.

Now I will shut up and tomorrow log in and educate myself reading the Freeper experts on this.

W

If passing the SAVE Act is the priority, then why not vote on it as a stand alone bill?

Why is this good?

They wanted to attach the Save Act to the bill. The Save Act was attached to the bill and it was vetoed?

I don’t understand. Don’t we want the Save Act in there?
