Charleroi, Pennsylvania, a small town of roughly 4,200 residents, has found itself at the heart of an immigration crisis. Over the past two years, the migrant population has surged by a staggering 2,000%, primarily due to an influx of Haitian immigrants.
This massive growth is linked to the Biden administration's expanded Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program, which allowed migrants from countries like Haiti to seek refuge in the United States. While intended to provide safety for those fleeing dire circumstances, this policy has placed an immense strain on local resources.

Local officials, including Charleroi Councilman Larry Celaschi, have expressed frustration, questioning why their town was chosen for such a substantial influx of migrants without adequate funding to support them. The school reports spending over $400,000 to accommodate the ‘newcomers’. That money is not spent on the taxpayers’ children’s education. And they’ll need at least $300,000 more for next year.
Were the people of Charleroi. PA asked if they wanted this? I think not.
I grew up near Charleroi. It was a dump 40 years ago with only the locals. I can only imagine how it is now.
These migrant settlement programs are nothing more than a strategy to bring urban livestock into a dying town just to employ more government employees to raise them.

Countries currently designated for Biden’s “TPS” are Afghanistan, Cameroon, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela and Yemen, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The CRS report said there were about 610,630 foreign nationals protected by TPS as of March 31, 2023.
TPS was first approved for Haitians in 2010 after a major earthquake devastated the country and has been re-designated or extended several times. President Trump attempted to end it for Haiti but legal challenges stopped that.
After Biden took office in 2021, his administration extended and redesignated TPS for Haiti, which allowed additional Haitians already in the country to become eligible.
