Chewing over Charlie’s argument . . .
Trump or no Trump, the GOP needs to start informing the media that it will no longer play ball unless massive reforms are made. No more Candy Crowleys. No more David Muirs. No more selective fact-checking, absurd framing, or glaring double-standards. If the press can manage that, it gets to play dress-up again. Until then, though, the game ought to be over.
There is one more debate that is definitely scheduled for this autumn: On October 1, the vice-presidential debate will be moderated by CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and Face the Nation moderator and CBS News foreign-affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan.
I’ve heard quite a few Republicans insist that last night was the worst and most biased moderation of a debate ever. We can debate whether these moderators overtake strong competitors such as Candy Crowley, George Stephanopoulos, or Gwen Ifill, but the key question for Republicans and the Trump campaign at this moment is, Do they think Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan will be fairer?

JD can fend for himself.
Hell no! Those two far-left clowns aren’t ready for prime time. They need the far-left “media” monitors to drag their asses through the debate.
On the one hand, if Trump is opting out of another debate with Harris, what’s the point of this?
Secondly, a VP debate has never mattered. People vote for the top of the ticket. This stuff is just for the political junkies.
The only plus is I have no doubt JD would do well.
JD Vance should have no problem taking on 3 vs 1 like President Trump.
The country noted the blatant bias in the last debate, particularly young voters.
I think JD Vance can handle it this once. I expect him to smoke the moderators and Tim Walz.
Walk away from all of them.
Turnabout is reasonable. Propose events where the Republicans choose the "moderators" and select the venues.
They will call JD a misogynist.
Their influence continues to wane and they squandered what little credibility they had remaining.
Let them.
Yup! JD knows the score.
No matter how much of a girly-man Walz is, that won't stick. :)
“Should J. D. Vance Participate in the Vice-Presidential Debate on CBS?”
Better Question: Should Tim Walz Participate in a Vice-Presidential Debate on OANN or Newsmax?
If they want to go through with the debate, they must stipulate that the moderators cannot do what ABC moderators did to Trump.
Y legitimize propaganda? Your call J.D.
The look on her face in that frozen video frame is just priceless.
It’s bad optics to back out of a debate that’s already been scheduled.
But my goodness, will the GOP ever learn? It doesn’t matter who the Republican candidate is. Every four years they agree to appear in a rigged and slanted forum. Every four years, without fail.
It would make sense to demand a neutral setting. Or one where each side picks two questioners. But no. Can’t have that.
The GOP is not called the stupid party for nothing.
It would show that Walz is the creepy jerk that he is.
NO! Screw the DNC fake news outHELLets!!
