Joe Manchin Turns on Democrats and Endorses Republican Larry Hogan in Maryland Senate Race
Breitbart ^ | 09/13/2024 | Wendell Husebø

Former Democrat turned independent Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) endorsed former Republican Maryland governor Larry Hogan on Thursday in the state’s Senate race.

Manchin’s endorsement is a blow to little-known Democrat nominee Angela Alsobrooks, who is under pressure to stave off Hogan’s surge to flip Maryland’s typically Democrat Senate seat to Republican. If Democrats lose the seat, Republicans will likely retake the Senate with a strong majority.

“Forget about being a Democrat or Republican,” Manchin told DC News Now. “Larry Hogan is just the right person with the right attitude for the job. He’s not afraid to speak against your party, and he won’t be controlled by any party or any type of ideology.”

All Maryland Republicans should be voting for the Democrat.

Hogan needs to be erased. Otherwise he will be the designated Republican on all Sunday morning talk shows.

I have more respect for Manchin than I do for most Republicans. It is much harder to be a maverick Dem and buck your party line than it is to be a maverick Republican.

Good news, and -- after watching Manchin in action over the past many years, one thing is indisputably clear:

What Manchin says and what Manchin does is based on one principle -- and one principle only -- and that principle is he says and does what's best for Manchin ... and sometimes -- sometimes -- that matches what's best for our Republic.

Hard opinion? You bet it's hard!

Senators Manchin (West Virginia) and Sinema (Arizona) were the two Democratic votes which saved the Republic from 2020 to 2022.

It was that close.

Hogan in the Senate is far, far better than any Democrat in the Senate.

Consider Judge appointments by the next president, as just one critical reason this is so.

The Republican party has become the Trumpian Republican party. Hogan will inside the "big tent" but next to the exit.

“All Maryland Republicans should be voting for the Democrat.”

Interesting take, especially since you obviously have no problem with Chuck Schumer continuing to control the United States Senate. Without question, Larry Hogan would be a Susan Collins / Lisa Murkowski type of Republican in the Senate. That being said, a Republican majority would hand key committee chairmanships to Senators like Ted Cruz and Rick Scott. Among other things, this would enable the Senate to take up legislation like HR2. There’s a time for purity and a time for pragmatism. In Maryland, pragmatism rules for 2024.

Manchin has no inner compass and is only guided by money. Gov. Hogan is a GOPe crap weasel.

Hogan is a pro-abortion never-Trump Biden voter.

Do endorsements really make a difference except in the ignorant, weak-minded?

Hogan is well to the left of both tbh and has a bigger ego too.

And would vote to make a Republican the majority leader. If that’s all that we can get from him of any use, it’s good enough for me

Your buddies Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer agree with you. They want to keep Dems in control of the Senate just like you.
