Speaker MIKE JOHNSON is yanking House Republicans’ six-month stopgap funding plan

Speaker MIKE JOHNSON is yanking House Republicans’ six-month stopgap funding plan, forgoing a vote on the legislation, which was originally scheduled to hit the floor later this afternoon.

Johnson said he’ll delay the vote until next week so that House Republicans can work over the weekend to tamp down GOP defections and “build consensus.”

“The measure has crumbled amid mounting criticism from conservatives, defense hawks and other Republican factions, and it’s unclear that more time will help save the bill unless leaders make drastic changes,” Caitlin Emma writes. “House GOP leaders have already been whipping the bill, and nearly a dozen Republicans have publicly said they plan to vote against it.”

The reality facing Johnson and the GOP: “Unless they can find adjustments to placate detractors, there’s an increasing likelihood that House Republicans will wind up saddled with a three-month stopgap spending bill backed by Democrats and the White House, free of any divisive policy add-ons. The Democratic-controlled Senate has not yet put forth its own official bill to keep the government open.”

Thomas Massie, who random FR Trolls like to attack, again lead the charge on this - to question the fake CR and omnibus process whereby the deep-state and woke Fed.gov ALWAYS gets funded regardless of who leads the House.

Yay, it’s time for more “shut-down” stupidity.

Mixed emotions on this. Sick to death of management by crisis. However, this bill would have put the Democrats on the spot to either pass the SAVE Act or shut down the government. Now, they and their propagandists will point to the incompetence of the GOP as the cause of the looming shutdown... and the GOP will cave once again.

Massie has been right on 99.9% of everything. The only thing I think he got wrong was the debt ceiling increase but I think he was tricked on that one.

See this speech about the CR...

It is incredibly powerful.

SSDD.

The Democrats get everything they want. Again. The Republicans are in disarray as usual.

Why do we even bother to elect Republicans? They are merely junior Democrats.

Inflation is about to go parabolic in the next two years. That is what happens when interest payments exceed tax collections. But we do not have a tax problem. We have a spending problem.

Neither party is willing to fix this. The voters are unwilling to fix this. So, it will be fixed by economic collapse instead.

.
Massie enabled All the spending for Biden / Harris by casting the deciding vote allowing the Debt Ceiling to be lifted, and now it’s decided after the Election in lame duck time.

Massie really didn’t want the the part where Illegals can’t Vote, to hurt Trump.

We know he wanted the Spending because he Voted for it and defended his Vote.

It’s really not disarray, there’s just a good number that hate and loathe Trump

“””Why do we even bother to elect Republicans? They are merely junior Democrats.””””

The GOP has had four years to clean up the election systems in states controlled by them and have basically done little or nothing.

Both in terms of creating new laws and going to court and fighting for clean elections.

Recently, there has been chatter about non-citizens on voter registration rolls by the GOP.

But it is already too late to do anything about.

This is typical GOP Elite strategy-—do nothing until it is too late to fix it.

“will wind up saddled with a three-month stopgap spending bill backed by Democrats and the White House”

once again, Johnson shows he’s REALLY the DEMOCRAT House Speaker ... with Johnson at the helm, the Democrats don’t really need their own Speaker ...

It’s called “Failure Theatre.”

Republicans don’t want to hurt the Dems, just as they had zero interest in Impeaching Joe.

They made it painless for the Dems to raise the Debt limit by moving it to after the Election/ before Inauguration.

1) THERE IS NO FIX.

2) Because of item 1, there is only one criterion for this bill and that is elect Donald Trump. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. That means no upheaval. It’s only 3 months. Just get through them.

3) Here is the really bad news. The deficit is $2T. If you got the most extreme spending cuts imaginable, and enormous tax cuts to pretend that will grow the economy and generate revenues . . . if you did this, it would not matter. There is no fix. $36T can’t be fixed.

4) Elect Trump, drain the Swamp. But this will not affect the mathematics of compound interest. Nothing will.

Yes. They know the Spending will pass, it always does.

So it’s the CR with or without the Voter Integrity.

It’s the Swamp. Congress Critters get very Rich and it works for them, they just have to fake it.

Things are going very well for the Congressional Swamp.
