I understood that the West is pretending to seek negotiations with Zelensky. They really don’t want the war to stop though. Johnson just prevented the last Ukrainian move toward negotiations. Then the US ‘helped’ with the Kursk offensive, and that offensive was designed to perform a few tasks, one of which was to end Putin’s interest in negotiations.
So the US and Britain are going to the Ukraine to talk about peace negotiations, and at the same time Biden is hinting US missiles will be used to threaten Putin. That should work - to keep the West’s beloved war going.

Having badly failed with plan A, the USA’s / NATO’s plan B for Russia is to engage Russia in a multi-decade insurgency in Ukraine. As long as there is one Azov Ukrainian left alive, the USA will support them in war against Russia.
On the other hand, the USA’s military adventurism in the mid-east, South Asia and Africa is officially over. There will be no more Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria or any other invasions. Proxy war goes both ways ways now.
We can say the USA/Russia war in Ukraine is existential for both sides.

To date, there have been three Russian red lines.
Ukraine in NATO was ignored and the result was the SMO.
The second red line was committing NATO units to the war.
The third is using these missiles deep inside Russia. That boob, David Cameron, was threatening this as was Macron last spring. The Russians made it crystal clear these missiles constituted a red line. The promised retaliatory attacks would not only take place in Ukraine but also on actual NATO territory. This could be escalation that puts us over the top.
