U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that his administration was "working that out now" when asked if the U.S. would lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long range weapons in its war against Russia.
The U.S. has been reluctant to supply or sanction the use of weapons that could strike targets deep inside in Russia for fear it would escalate the conflict.
Kyiv's other allies have been supplying weapons, but with restrictions on how and when they can be used inside Russia, out of concern such strikes could prompt retaliation that draws NATO countries into the war or provokes a nuclear conflict.

Having badly failed with plan A, the USA’s / NATO’s plan B for Russia is to engage Russia in a multi-decade insurgency in Ukraine. As long as there is one Azov Ukrainian left alive, the USA will support them in war against Russia.
On the other hand, the USA’s military adventurism in the mid-east, South Asia and Africa is officially over. There will be no more Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria or any other invasions. Proxy war goes both ways ways now.
We can say the USA/Russia war in Ukraine is existential for both sides.
Since Yanukovich was removed by the democratically elected parliament after he fled Ukraine, and not by a CIA coup, and since there have been two national elections since, your premise does not hold. Russia does not get to invade a country because it does not like its government.
