A Delta jet clipped a smaller plane on a taxiway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Tuesday morning, knocking the smaller aircraft’s tail off, officials said.
Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was taxiing for takeoff to Tokyo just after 10 a.m. when its wingtip hit the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526, which was on an adjacent taxiway before it was set to take off for Louisiana, Delta Air Lines said in a statement.
The Endeavor plane’s tail was damaged upon impact, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and Delta.
Video taken after the incident by Storm Chaser Aaron Rigsby shows the wing was ripped clean off the plane.
No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.
Customers on the impacted flights were brought back to the terminal, where they will be provided alternate flights, Delta said.

LOL
Get the duct tape and it’s fixed in 5 minutes
DEI hires working hard for you!!
It’s actually pretty amazing how smooth things run at Atlanta with the immense amount of planes and people going through it.
I can’t tell you how much I hate the Atlanta Airport. Only Miami International Airport is worse.
That’s a very important part, isn’t it?
WOW, so that is what they are calling “Clipped” these days.
Looks like more than just clipped the tail. Any picture of the “clipper” aircraft?
That’ll buff right out.
“I meant to do that!”.
I went to Google to see what type of aircraft were involved. They listed Endeavor Air Flight 5526 as “Departing Late”. I guess towing it off counts as departing.
I’m glad I wasn’t going back to Japan today (I decided to put it off in order to watch the debate 🤓)
Delta Airbus A350 vs Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900. Best on Boeing being involved will not be paying off.
Best -> bets
This explains the pilot saying to the co-pilot when asked about the overnight layover:
“I am gonna get me a piece of tail.”
Speed tape ought to fix that right up.
Some hot glue and duct tape, with an Earl Scheib paintjob, will take care of that.
What happens when an Air Bus knocks the tail off a small plane? Dis-assed-her.
