For the first time in weeks, former President Donald Trump pulled ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris in one of the most-watched national polls — raising the prospect that her momentum has fizzled out just ahead of their debate.
Trump edged out Harris 48% to 47% among likely voters nationally, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll.
Other polls have similarly begun to show the 45th president regaining ground against his rival now that the Democratic National Convention has wrapped up.

Merchan is back pedaling. He’s either been instructed to lay low because anything done to Trump that would interfere with the election would be so transparent that it would destroy Harris’ campaign OR he fears being over turned on appeal or some other legal repercussions because his daughter has created a conflict of interest which should have resulted in him recusing himself but didn’t.
But Trump is hated by many Republicans, as well.
That says more about them, than it does about Trump.
RFK Jr would have been a better candidate for either party. Compromise that both aren’t happy with but both can live with. There’s an awful lot of hate on both sides that will lead to the end of the Republic
Harris and Waltz have infested YouTube advertisements to the point that I have stopped bringing up music videos. They seem to be putting a great deal of effort into that channel.
I have noticed that the people who put up Biden signs in their yards in earlier times are not putting up Harris signs now.
Harris has a campaign? Who knew?
It won’t be a nught of screams for Harris. It will be a night of relief.
Trump is the nominee because we voted for him.
I disagree. (So, what? People disagree all the time on this forum)
RFK has a terrible speaking voice that ruins his ability to make solid public appearances. That matters. Maybe it shouldn't, but it does. A "better candidate" absolutely must have good stage presence and some acting skills.
There is also the minor point that I do not find RFK to have an acceptable position on anything other than the forced mRNA treatments and disclosure of all records pertaining to the Kennedy assassinations. I do hope that Trump will appoint RFK to a specific position in his administration where he will do something on those topics.
There’s an awful lot of hate on both sides that will lead to the end of the Republic
So there is then. I see Trump as the last, best chance to fix that problem. If he fails or is cheated out of the Presidency (again) we will have a civil war and the end of the Republic.
Best to have contingency plans for several different outcomes.
That said, having RFK Jr. on Trump’s side is a big plus.
From the ads I’ve been seeing, Kamala, and the Democrats have only one issue -abortion.

I hate those who hate Trump……
And we have lousy voters because we have lousy government schools.
I don’t watch tv and block all ads on my devices, so I have zero sense of the pulse of the ads.
Will anyone pay attention to these increased adds. I do not believe they get the bang for the buck that is intended.
Also true on college football games involving swing state teams like UM, MSU, UW, PSU, UA, ASU, UGA etc. Numerous Harris/Walz adds, nothing from Trump/Vance. Slick, professional, well-done adds that make her look like a crusading outsider taking on the establishment fighting for the common man and woman, not someone whose been part of the administration for the last 3½ years as the countries has spiraled downward.
I expect they will be run during NFL games involving swing state teams too.
“Her numbers collapsed when news broke that her husband’s
first marriage bombed after he knocked up his kid’s nanny.”
And like Hillary, Trash.
An examination of the internals is surprising.
First, they have changed their party affiliation in the turnout model and the surprise is they seem to have done a parallel party survey.
It shows Independents in plurality and Republicans and Democrats at a lesser level. Unweighted they have Republicans and Democrats even.
It is not clear that this is an outright change to their turnout model. Such a change is what lifted Harris, not the responses obtained.
It is post labor day so they are entitled to depart from things like Census for turnout model. But the fact that it elevated Independents and this lifted Trump is pretty encouraging — and remember, this is a national poll which is skewed by the big populations of CA and NY having such a huge Dem lead.
If it were 2 months earlier, with these numbers, we could expect her to be replaced.
