A New York judge extended Donald Trump a political lifeline on Friday, pushing back his sentencing on his conviction for falsifying business records until after Election Day.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan agreed to reschedule Trump’s sentencing date from Sept. 18 until Nov, 26, removing the potential for an unprecedented legal distraction going into the home stretch of the presidential election.

I think if Trump becomes Pres. again, this will quietly go away.

“Biden could pardon Trump. Heh.”

No, he couldn’t. Trump was convicted of crimes under New York state law. The presidential pardon power doesn’t extend to state crimes — only to convictions in federal courts.

That distinction also means that a Trump-controlled Department of Justice couldn’t drop the case. The charges were brought by the Manhattan DA, not by any federal official.

You’re talking about a different case and different judge. That’s the Jack Smith January 6 Election interference case.

> Biden could pardon Trump. Heh. <

If Biden had even an ounce of decency, he’d speak out against what’s being done to Trump.

But if I’m not mistaken, Trump was convicted of state crimes. So Biden cannot issue a pardon here. Only the governor can. Please see my post #17.

So now what are all the national guard who are in the city (that took over an entire hotel) supposed to do now?

This is a state court case. DOJ is not relevant. We would have a minor constitutional crisis if New York tried to sentence the president-elect to a prison term however.

If Trump wins in November, he'll never do a day inside.

If 2024 is a repeat of the 2020 Steal, Trump will spend the rest of his life in jail.

This man is literally risking his life for his country, and his enemies have thrown everything at him INCLUDING the kitchen sink.

May God protect him and protect the vote.

Hmmm, and just a day after this:

ELECTION INTERFERENCE: DOJ Chief Caught Admitting in Undercover Footage That Trump Indictments Are Politically Motivated — Exposes Plot to Make Trump a ‘Convicted Felon’ and ‘Affect His Candidacy’

So, Trump wins the election and is scheduled to move into the WH on 1/20/2025...

If that happens, all of those bogus charges and "convictions" will be suddenly overturned on appeals.

If Trump loses the "election", he would most likely be sentenced on November 26 to three years in prison at Rikers and ordered to report immediately, regardless of pending appeals. He would get the full "Epstein" treatment within a month of such a development.

Judge Merchan is living proof that if you spend enough time in courtrooms you come to learn that you should always respect the bench but the ass that sits on it is another matter.

I truly believe that. I don’t think any of these law fare cases have been locally managed.

It looks like their three step plan. The first step is steal the election for Harris, sentence Trump to prison and Epstein him while in prison.

Yup. They know that sentencing will help Trump with votes. They already misjudged public opinion, like that DOJ official who was recorded saying so.
