Has it stayed cool down there now that the rain has moved out?

Pretty cloud here and a little warm but not bad.

It said it got up to 80 today, but it felt pretty good. Mostly cloudy all day, and hubby said there was 1/4” of rain in the gauge this morning before the clouds thinned out. It will be similar to that the rest of the week.

I’m glad that it was nice there, too. Probably a good thing there were some clouds. Kept it from getting to warm. As it is, y’all were warmer than us today. Hopefully it won’t get any worse. I read that there was a cold front headed to TN. Are y’all in line for it?

A very pleasant good Friday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.

Yesterday at Wichita Ridge:

How's everyone doing this morning?

Oh NO!!! More stirring up you don’t need. Hope it settles down quickly.

I’m still cleaning up from work, but am fading. LOL!

80 sounds real good, especially for your area this time of year.
It was 84 this afternoon when I went to get new blades for Champ. A little on the humid side and no nice breeze today but it wasn’t bad.

Yes, a front is coming through overnight Friday and the weekend will give us a little taste of Fall. From what they’ve been saying, the cooler air will dive down far enough to keep TX on the cooler side too. It would be nice if you’re finished with 90s and triple digits.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

LOL! Look at that smile on Gizmo’s face. Those must have been really good smelly spots he found to roll in yesterday.

Yep, I was able to catch two of those three instances. He stopped on the third one before I took a picture of it.

And it was nice out there too. It was in the 80's. It feels comfortable out there this morning.

I certainly wasn’t pleased to come home and find him zipping through the fields this afternoon. I knew it was coming but hoped it would be a little later. It wasn’t as bad as when they were here harvesting last week but it was enough to fire up the ol’ sinuses again.
Oh well, it comes with the territory. LOL

Good luck with the clean-up. The more done tonight, the less to deal with tomorrow.

So there were three smelly spots, huh? No wonder he had a big grin on his furry face. LOL

80s feel pretty darn good after the heat we’ve been dealing with. We had 80s over here too. Just wait until the cold front moves through and makes it feel really good this weekend. You’ll need a jacket when you let Gizmo out when you wake up.

That sounds like the perfect set up if we can both get a cool front to keep the heat away. Till next summer!

So, if you went to get new blades for Champ, does that mean he can heal [with help] from home instead of the mower hospital? How is the grass looking? Ours is simply gorgeous right now.

I imagine we aren’t quite through with heat but it shouldn’t get insufferable again the rest of the year. We could still hit 90 or so a few more times. It’s only the beginning of September. For now, these 80s are a pleasure.

Hubby’s cousin came over yesterday to load up Champ and take him to the mower doctor. But first, he turned on the mower to see what it was doing. He said he thought it was just badly chipped blades and that knocked them out of balance. He replaced the blades this evening and said everything seems good to go. Whew! Saved me some $$$.

Having a mower identical to his, if I have a problem, he’s probably had the same problem at some point. He can fix most of them himself. THAT’S why I bought an identical mower.

My grass is pretty and green again and though it’s growing, it not growing all that fast now. It’s late enough in the year, things aren’t growing so fast.
As much rain as you got, I’m not surprised your grass is looking good. I hope the birds didn’t find the new seed your hubby put out so the dead spots can green up again.

What a relief that you didn’t have to take the mower in to be repaired. You definitely saved a bunch of money. Thank goodness for Hubby’s cousin. He’s a life-saver of mowers. :)

I’m just going to try to take it one day at a time and try to enjoy the coolness while it lasts. Maybe it’ll keep me from stressing if it does heat up a bit again.

I guess I’d better head to the pillows. I didn’t get a nap today and it’s catching up with me. See ya tomorrow! Or Friday.

It was a huge relief. I thought I’d done something serious that would cost a lot to repair. But Cuz explained that the blades need to be pretty much perfectly balanced because they spin so fast. Feel vibration, shut it off immediately. Otherwise the piece I broke earlier this year will break.
Cuz had to replace his blades a month or so ago for the same reason. It happens.

I’m doing the same thing you are - - enjoying the break while it’s here. I just wish ragweed wasn’t rampant so the windows could be open at night. Can’t have everything. LOL

Sleep well. I’m not too far behind ya.

HowdyHowdy, Early Birds!
Wow! Our troops work [and play!] so hard.
And it's all done for all of US!
Thanks for telling their stories, Kathy.
Hope y'all have a Thank-The-Troops Thursday!
It's still cool here. I'm so relaxed now.
[[[hugs]]]

Great that it’s still cool there. I know your kitties are more relaxed too.

It’s a bit warm here and it’s sunny. Not good because I still need to clean up the corn trash in the yards so I can mow. I’m heading out to run a couple of errands this afternoon and have decided to get a headlamp while I’m out. Then I can work out there at night when it’s cool. Don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before. duh

Yes, it’s wonderful to get to have the doors open and to have that annoying AND expensive AC turned off! If the air gets too still, a fan works great.

Oh, I never thought about corn trash being all over your yard. DUH. Of course it would be! The corn field is in your front yard. LOL!

I have one of those headlamps...hubby gave it to me....and I love having it when it’s needed. I would have never thought of it either. :)

It’ll be a while until I can open my windows. :-( Ragweed will be around for a while and there’s the harvesting going on all around. It’s kicking up in earnest now.
I sneezed several times while I was out this afternoon.

Yeah, the combine slung corn cobs and husks all along the edges of the fields and I don’t need to put Champ through that mess. I’m just gonna rake it all back into the fields.

Hubby had one of those headlamps that he wore sometimes when working on cars. If it’s still around, it’s out in the shop and I’m not about to dig around to look for it. Remember, I married into a family of hoarders and he learned it well. LOL That shop is a nightmare.
I got one while I was out today and it didn’t cost much. I tried it out in the bathroom with the lights off and it’s a bright one. Should do the trick.
