"Oops!... He Holocausted again," is one historian's take on Adolf Hitler and World War II, as presented yesterday on Tucker Carlson's X show.
FLASHBACK: I used to enjoy the occasional Tucker Carlson monologue on Fox News. His content was usually pointed and amusing and delivered with a breezy charm. But I rarely bothered with a Tucker Carlson interview. As an interviewer, too often, I found him strangely incurious and glib instead of breezy.
Carlson's interview on Tuesday with alleged historian Darryl Cooper — like his interview in April with Reverend Munther Isaac, referenced in today's flashbacks — was so much worse than merely glib or incurious.
Carlson chose to interview Cooper, whom he endorsed as "the best and most honest popular historian in the United States" to learn exactly how World War II didn't happen. According to Cooper — and Carlson nodded along the entire time — Winston Churchill was perhaps "the chief villain of the Second World War" and "primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did."
It's true that Hitler did not want or expect Britain to fight. He wanted Britain to acquiesce to German dominance of Europe from the Urals to Gibraltar and subsume the UK to Nazi interests. This is all a matter of historical record. Britain could fight or submit — that was Hitler's choice, not Churchill's.
FLASHBACK: Carlson chose to interview Isaac to find out how the Jewish State of Israel treats Christians. Isaac is a priest who neither lives nor works in Israel and who uses the loaded phrase "Occupied Palestine" as his location on his Twitter/X profile. He is a Palestinian Christian from Palestinian-controlled Bethlehem, where Christian ministers serve at the mercy of the Palestinian Authority.

"Oopsies!" is not a valid excuse for the methodical execution (and sometimes torture) of six million Jews and another six million assorted "undesirables" like gays, Gypsies, cripples, and the mentally retarded. The Germans killed roughly 3.3 million Soviet POWs during the war, too, largely through forced labor and malign neglect — not by accident or out of mercy.
AUTHOR SAYS:
For what it’s worth, I read a lot of history — particularly WWII — and I’d never heard of Cooper before Carlson chose to shine his spotlight on him. Probably because he isn’t worth reading. So why the spotlight?
Barring providing the context I just gave you, Carlson could have conducted a second interview with a WWII historian who isn’t a Hitler apologist, like Victor Davis Hanson. Or he could have spoken to them both at the same time in a discussion/debate format. Or maybe Carlson could have at least asked Cooper more pointed and revealing questions. Or maybe — just maybe — Carlson could have resisted fawning over the so-called historian who pinned the blame for WWII on Churchill and thinks the Holocaust was humane.
But Carlson did none of these things. Why not?
Tucker Carlson has obviously never read any of William L Shirer’s books.
Saw in another article that the “historian” held Britain responsible for the Germans killing civilians because Churchill bombed a German city.
How a “historian” could be unaware that during the first World War the Germans bombed British civilians unapologetically using dirigibles?
I am seeing more and more “fringe” journalists and woo woo people start with the “It’s not ALL Jews that are bad, but there is a cabal of Jews causing all the world’s problems.”
They qualify their statements. I guess this is because they know what they are saying is distasteful.
Most of this is coming out of Russia in regards to the Jews in Ukraine.
The best way to battle this garbage is to cease supporting those people. There isn’t much an individual can do these days. But not listening to idiocy is a good start.
Cooper wasn’t talking about the holocaust with that he was talking about the Zanzibar invasion of Russia and how they dealt with POWs and civilians. And he condemned it.
Zanzibar = Nazi
Actually, this is not true. In The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer, after the war it was discovered the Nazis had plans as to not only how to occupy the Soviet Union, but also Great Britain and the United States. Who to execute and who to set up as puppet rulers.
I’m hopeful VDH will stage an intervention, as they no doubt are on one another’s contact lists.
A hallmark of the Left is: I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death to prevent you from saying it.
I always considered William L Shirer as a hard left author.

Somewhere in the depths of Hell Tojo and Hitler are smiling. Anything that makes those monsters smile is, by definition, not a good thing.
Scott Johnson of Powerline makes this observation:
For some reason, Israel leaves Tucker Carlson cold. He prides himself on keeping cool about Israel’s ordeal. With Candace Owens, he minimized and brushed it off as “a foreign tragedy.” In retrospect, Carlson’s “analysis” reminds me of Neville Chamberlain’s characterization of Hitler’s claim on the Sudetenland in 1938: “A quarrel in a faraway country, between people of whom we know nothing.”
Speaking of which we arrive at the latest step in Carlson’s descent into the Lindberghian mire (to put it charitably). It comes in his two-hour exploration of “whackadoo revisionim,” as Ben Domenech puts it (also charitably), with Daryl Cooper.
Who, you may ask, is Daryl Cooper? According to Carlson, he “may be the best and most honest popular historian in the United States. His latest project is the most forbidden of all: trying to understand World War Two.”
Carlson’s interview with Cooper is posted here on X:

Some 23.8 million viewers have watched some part of it. You too can lose brain cells tuning in, as I did yesterday, only to “learn” that Winston Churchill was the “chief villain” of World War II — in the hushed tone of “now it can be said.” David Irving, call your office!
.... There is much more that could and should be said. Given his audience and the reach of that interview, I hope some serious historians such as Andrew Roberts and Victor Davis Hanson will say it. In the meantime, I present Carlson as Exhibit A of a descent into willfully ignorant stupidity in the service of a bad cause.
I wouldn’t envy any historian going up against VDH; especially a nut like this one apparently is.
If Woodrow Wilson had not lied the U.S. into World War 1, the conflict would’ve ended in a ceasefire armistice.
Instead, the extremely punitive Treaty of Versailles was inflicted upon Germany, leading to the rise of Adolf Hitler.
The Holocaust was real, but there’s plenty of blame to go around.
Exhibit A:
August 22nd on the eve of the invasion of Poland, Hitler told his generals:
Our strength consists in our speed and in our brutality. Genghis Khan led millions of women and children to slaughter – with premeditation and a happy heart. History sees in him solely the founder of a state. It’s a matter of indifference to me what a weak western European civilization will say about me. I have issued the command – and I’ll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by a firing squad – that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy.
Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formation in readiness – for the present only in the East – with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?
Abigail Shrier posted on X:
“Tucker Carlson is a very bright man. He has the largest conservative podcast in the country, and eight weeks before a presidential election, he is approvingly boosting Nazi apologists.
“The Occam’s Razor explanation?
“He wants Kamala Harris to win.”

Seth Dillon replied:
“It does seem like it’s what you’d do if you were in his position and wanted to hurt Trump maximally.”

How many times would he would have needed to say “Hitler is evil” or “Hitler was responsible for more horrible acts” or “Germany engaged in more war crimes” during the interview for you to be comfortable?
He said each of those things at least 2 or 3 times. Would 5 times have satisfied you?
You are proving his exact point. The mythos of WW2 and role of Hitler as our whipping boy scape goat has scarred and screwed up how we think about everything.
Post WW2, any time that a white country wants what is best for it’s people, they are “Nazi”.
Any time an individual wants to protect his people and his country from outside foreign forces, he is “literally Hitler”.
Progressives can’t give up on the “Hitler is literally the devil” narrative or else their entire globalist world view falls apart.
Thanks for helping them.
One thing I think about a lot is this...
If we can watch the news everyday and lie openly to our faces even though we have the internet and can fact check them in real time, can you even image how much worse history books are?
Go read Patton’s diary from Sept 1945. It’s in the National Archives and available online.
Indubitably!
If he was trying to make your point, which I do agree with, he did a piss poor job of doing it.
