A Georgia school has been placed on lockdown following reports of an active shooter.
Apalachee High School in Winder in Barrow County, 25 miles west of Athens, was put on hard lockdown Wednesday morning, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The news outlet said it has received multiple calls about a shooting, which remains unconfirmed.
Images from the scene show dozens of ambulances and police vehicles outside the school.
At least one person was loaded into a medic helicopter on a stretcher, as reported by Atlanta News First.

Port-a-potties arriving on site.
Yes. It comes from years of discussion here on FR.
Although at times, I get frustrated with some of the arguments that make no sense to me. (I’m 76, set in ways. smile.)
4 confirmed dead, 9 hospitalized
Suspect in custody is “student aged person”
Again from AF-TV. Reporting from CNN that shooter was a 14 yr-old male.
If I had young children, they would not attend a large public school. Far too dangerous.
We have about 140 in our local school. It is sane, Principal is a retired Marine officer.
I will disagree. Schools, even with the random shootings, and with the daily bullying that since COVID the schools have given up on, are still the safest place for children.
Meaning, if you look at all the bad things that happen to children, and where they happen, being in school has the lowest rate of bad things.
Interestingly, it is more dangerous to travel too and from school, than to actually be in school, but that is in part because of high school students getting into accidents while texting and driving to/from school.
And kids have more injuries at home. They are at home more hours than school, but asleep for a lot of them.
It is tragic that the Democrats have decided that kids killed by other kids in school are the ONLY kids they actually care about, because we could do good work to protect 100 times more kids who get injured and killed in many other places.
No word yet on the number of possible victims. However, a school shooting right before the upcoming election would seem to be arriving right on time.

Two dead teachers, two dead students, somewhere around 8 or 9 others wounded, according to various reports.
Harris is slightly ahead in Georgia today. This kind of thing is exactly what could tip the state to her.
I retired from a small rural school K-8 with about 300 students. As I’ve posted elsewhere, ‘my’ school now has a well-armed deputy sheriff resource officer. The only problem is she can only be in one place at a time. Once an armed person with bad intentions get in, he is going to have his way until he is stopped.
Your school is sane, but, if it is public, it has to take anyone of the right age who lives in the district, sane or not.
At our school there are a number of teachers, coaches and staff who they sent to training with firearms and they are all licensed to carry. Security system is all new. entire facility is fenced and gated. At least 2 of the past school board members were licensed to carry and approved by the school.
My wife is the head cook there. We live 2 blocks (not big city blocks) from school. She left the bank where she worked for 15 years to have more time off and less stress and pressure. Banker’s hours are not what the public thinks.
