TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Trial began Tuesday in Florida for four activists accused of illegally acting as Russian agents to help the Kremlin sow political discord and interfere in U.S. elections.

All four are or were affiliated with the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement, which has locations in St. Petersburg, Florida, and St. Louis...

In his opening statement, Justice Department attorney Menno Goedman said the group’s members acted under Russian direction to stage protests in 2016 claiming Black people have been victims of genocide in the U.S. and took other actions for the following six years that would benefit Russia...That included support for a St. Petersburg City Council candidate in 2019 that the Russians claimed to “supervise,”...

defendants include Yeshitela, along with Penny Hess, Jesse Nevel and 'Black Hammer' leader, Augustus Romain Jr (aka Gazi Kodzo). The St. Pete councilmember, Eritha Akile Cainion, was not indicted. Activities included demonstrations in Calif, San Francisco and Georgia.

The Uhuru and APSP motto for the "Freedom Summer"..."includes the work to build a massive, thousands-strong August 31 mobilization in St. Petersburg, Florida...that will bring people and organizations representative of the entire spectrum of progressive and anti-colonial politics together under the slogan: “Not One Step Backwards,” a declaration of general recognition that the attack on the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement is a poorly disguised effort of pushing back every right of the people that was won through black struggle against the colonial system"

A version of 'not one step backwards' has been repeated frequently by presidential candidate Harris's chant 'we're not going back' https://x.com/KamalaHQ/status/1815827498069823709

Unless we are at war with Russa, Free speech includes disagreeable speech. People that provide non mainstream views, even if the views are congruent with objectionable foreign governments, were protected by the first amendment. The whole Vietnam era anti war movement is a classic example. If your going to lock these folks up, then Jane Fonda needs to be put on trial. We (The USA) provides funding for opposition parties around the world ( like in Israel a few years back). I’m sorry but the goose stepping going on in America is scary.

unless Russia is funding me, and, specifically directing me what to say or do, I don’t think I can be classed a ‘foreign agent’ under FARA.

And that will be the test of this case - did Russia fork over cash and what activities were directed/supervised by the two indicted Russian co-conspirators, as opposed to this case being a free-speech nothingburger.

Jane Fonda should have been put on trial for lending aid and comfort to the enemy. She did more than just say stupid things, she actively recruited US soldiers and encouraged them to go AWOL, etc.,and made trips to North Vietnam to assist them in their propaganda efforts. In at least one trip is believed to have revealed US POW efforts to communicate which led to their punishment and torture.
Currently she has ties to Code Pink which in turn is acting as a foreign agent of Venezuela, Iran, and China.

...The recent indictment of Aleksandr Ianov, a Russian figure operating in coordination with Russia’s FSB security agency, accuses him of recruiting and providing financial support for black nationalist groups in the United States.

One of the black nationalist groups in the indictment is the Black Hammer Party whose leader Gazi Kodzo had described Anne Frank as a “colonizer” and “bleach demon” and who has since been arrested on charges of kidnapping, assault, and aggravated sodomy.

The Marxist group involved in BLM protests had been known for marching through Atlanta behind its “gender non-conforming” leader who calls himself “they”, and shouting, “Kill the police! To get free, you’ve got to kill the pigs.”

Another of these was the Uhuru Movement, a socialist black nationalist group previously involved in race riots in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1996....

RUSSIAN SPIES WERE BEHIND BLACK NATIONALIST PROTEST GROUPS
Sultan Knish ^ | August 10, 2022 | Daniel Greenfield
Posted on 8/11/2022, 11:36:41 AM by silent majority rising

After years of Russiagate conspiracy theories about how the Russians had somehow rigged the 2016 presidential election using Facebook ads, the Senate Intelligence report awkwardly revealed that the Russian operation had focused most of its attention on black nationalists.

The Senate report revealed that “most of the videos” put out by the Russian IRA troll factory on YouTube “pertained to police brutality and the activist efforts of the Black Lives Matter organization” and found that “no single group of Americans was targeted... more than African-Americans” around “race and related issues”.

But that was an understatement.

The Russians had created their own Black Lives Matter groups, activists and protests....

Russians aren’t dumb. They know which group in America is most easily influenced so they’ll get more bang for their bucks.

Too bad to check: California secession movement leader lives in … Russia?

Donald Trump’s stunning election win has some Californians so upset that they want to secede from the United States. A group calling itself Yes California has organized a petition drive for a referendum in the spring 2019 election to demand a convention of states to approve “Calexit,” which would recreate the Republic of California of 1850. Louis Marinelli writes that the movement “is about California taking its place in the world, standing as an equal among nations.”

Taking one’s place in the world is something Marinelli knows about, as the New York Times discovered. His place in the world isn’t California at all, but Yekaterinburg — deep in Russia:
