Rochester police have arrested the man wanted for the beating death last week of his girlfriend in the Beechwood neighborhood.
Police say suspect Walter Balkum had already been arrested for assaulting the woman this spring, and he was wearing an electronic monitor until five days before the killing of Melikah Bruner.
Police say a judge removed the monitor at the request of Balkum's lawyer, who argued it impeded Balkum's ability to get a job.
The Monroe County judge was Judge Karen Bailey Turner, who was elected to a ten-year term in 2019.
Balkum has four prior felony convictions, two for violent felonies

I assume that’s an ankle monitor (is there any other kind)? Unless you show up for a job interview wearing shorts, how would any employer even know you have an ankle monitor?
That judge is going to be on the bench at least until 2029. She and here ilk will be allowing crimes for years to come. Best to just get out of places like that, if you can.
It’s funny how the article didn’t post a picture or a description of what the suspect looks like.

Gosh, this whole fiasco is going to impede his job search. I'll bet that judge intended for this to happen. /s
Has the country had enough of this yet? How much more will it take?
I hired guys with ankle monitors before. The worst part was they had to literally be tethered to the extension cord because the batteries in the things were crap.
Would this judge give an emergency CCW permit to the victim?
NO WAY. Guns are dangerous...
