NATO has responded to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski's call to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory, noting that while members of the Alliance have the right to protect their airspace, such actions could have consequences for the entire Alliance.
Source: a NATO spokesperson in a comment to Europa Press news agency, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The NATO spokesperson stated that the Alliance "has a responsibility to prevent further escalation of the war unleashed by Russia" and emphasised that it "is not a party to the conflict and will not become a party to the conflict" in Ukraine.

EU needs Russian gas to prevent freezing in coming winter, more than need to protect borders of Ukraine.
So much disharmony over the laundering
So much corruption...so little time.
These multi million dollar hardware pieces are being taken out with $200 drones. War is different now. With China’s industrial base that can produce these things by the millions we should be very afraid.
I wasn’t sure whose border Poland wanted to protect from the story? There own but blowing up missiles heading to Polish territory or Ukraine’s targets.
It’s fine for the Poles to shoot down anything entering Polish airspace.
Obviously, if the Poles are firing at missiles in Ukrainian airspace, they have become a direct shooting party to the conflict.
If you ask me, if the Poles want to help out the Ukrainian with air defense, then they should give those ADF assets to the Ukrainians and let the Ukrainians shoot at Russian missiles from their own soil. Of course the Russians may well blow them up, but better they get blown up in Ukraine than in Poland (which would start WWIII).
Hopium seldom results in success.
You are correct. Hopium seldom results in success.
The Ukrainian leadership, such as it is, is desperately and belatedly trying to manufacture leverage for end state negotiations and to resort to desperate measures to try to bring NATO and the United States directly into the conflict both militarily if possible and to negotiate with Russia on it's behalf.
It is very probable that the Ukrainian military resistance will collapse in the very near therm future.
That might yet happen.
Regards,
I’m more worried about our country collapsing before Russia collapses. Our corrupt government has this country heading for a disaster. It’s not just incompetence and stupidity. It’s a deliberate move to destroy capitalism and replace it with government control over everything.
As a good patriot, you are right to be concerned about America's condition.
However, your concern does not negate the fact that there are still other problems out there in the world with which we patriots must contend, which deserve our attention, and which demand our action.
You worry about America - and rightly so. But you must not succumb to the "All or Nothing" Fallacy (also known as the "False Dilemma" Fallacy).
For many decades following WWII, America spent billions in defense - chiefly against the Soviet Union. That spending forced the Soviets to likewise spend, eventually contributing to the collapse of their "Evil Empire" (Reagan). But it didn't directly result in the destruction of a single Soviet battleship, the sinking of a single Soviet submarine, the scrapping of a single Soviet tank, or the shooting-down of a single Soviet missile which might otherwise - someday - have targeted American lives.
(I also still recall how, in the 1980s, the Left decried spending billions for Reagan's "Star Wars" with the very same flawed logic you are now using.)
Ultimately, none of our defense spending succeeded in directly reducing any of Russia's threat potential.
Now, in Ukraine, our financial and military aid is finally doing just that.
I grieve for the loss of innocent Ukrainian lives - for which Putin, alone, is responsible. I am also deeply troubled by the loss of the lives of many young Russian lives (conscripts) - again, for which Putin, alone, is responsible. But until Putin is swept away, it can't be helped.
