New York Health Insurance Rates to Increase by Double Digits in 2025
fingerlakes1.com ^ | 8/31/24 | Staff Report

Posted on 09/01/2024 2:30:35 PM PDT by AbolishCSEU

Health insurance rates in New York are set to rise significantly in 2025, with individual plans increasing by an average of 12.7% and small-group plans by 8.4%, according to state records. These increases, though lower than the nearly 17% and 19% hikes insurers initially sought, will affect about 1 million New Yorkers enrolled in these plans. State officials cited the rising costs of medical care, including hospital stays and drug prices, as the primary drivers behind the rate hikes. The approved rates aim to limit insurers’ profit margins to 1% to mitigate inflationary pressures on consumers.

The rate increases for 2025 exceed those approved for 2024, continuing a trend of rising health insurance costs in the state.

I have a buddy in NYS who is very well off. He owns a business that has three retail stores as well as other business interest in the area. He has four kids under the age of 18, so he is a family of six people. He was recently notified his monthly healthcare payment will increase to $3200/month. With dental ($200) it will be $3400/month total.

We have a small HVAC biz and some rental property which we are rehabbing with our own money. I get a small pension and small amount of widow’s SS. Empty nesters.

Our premium swallows up the SS payment and then some. $1200 a month; that’s with the “credit.” AGI last year was $54K. Health insurance is approx. 27% of our AGI AND that doesn’t cover anything until you meet your out-of-pocket deductibles and copays. Basically, covers hospitalization only when it comes right down to it.

And Unionized nurses send the cost skyrocketing .
The working population is dropping .
The welfare rolls are exploding .

Something else...

NYS cost shares Medicaid with counties.

If you (think) you own a home, prepare for your county taxes to skyrocket, too...

The care and feeding of illegal aliens is an expensive hobby. Good thing the residents of New York have plenty of cash reserves to cover the increase.

There are WAY too many administrators involved in medical care - particularly in hospitals/hospital systems. Further, there bigger the hospital bureaucracy generally the more inefficient and impersonal the care. There are easy fixes. Obamacare is not one of them.

Obamacare and free care for illegals aliens. YAY democrats. It is now cheaper for me to save money and fly to India once a year for check up and get any care I need. Pondicherry Indi has a great medical facility run by all American trained doctors. Pay cash for fraction of what even our crap obamacare premiums cost.

I had to have emergency surgery in North Texas. EVERYONE in the emergency room was squatty and brown and spoke no English. Go figure.

That’s insane. I’m on the cheapest CrapCare/ObamaCare independent individuals/families are restricted to buying and it potentially amounts to $32k/year when the $9k deductibles are exhausted. BTW, the out-of-state colleges don’t accept NYS CrapCare, so add another $2500 for each college student. These are my 2024 rates.

Guessing your buddy has the best of the worst policies we’re limited to getting likely with low deductibles and a better network.

If you don’t want to travel that far, I can give you the name of a Doc in Mazatlàn. $200 for a 2 hour appointment, with full write up to throw at the medical establishment here.

All were warned about 0bama*Care* ... the experts smeared those who tried to warn (like Sarah Palin/death panels, etc).

What’s the problem? Can’t they find enough Health care Providers that will work for free? They certainly expect businesses to operate at a loss .

Doesn't matter. What matters is that illegal aliens get the most advanced medical treatment in the world.
