DDT trucks spraying our neighborhoods was regularly done in Houston in the 1950s and I can’t remember if they were still doing it in the early 60s.
They were fog trucks and the kids loved chasing the truck and being invisible in the ‘smoke”.

When I lived in Central Florida many years ago, at dusk the fogging trucks were always out and about. Never caused me any problems.

I recall getting heavily gassed in my basement bedroom one summer night as my window-well window was open. That had to be 1970 or later as I didn’t move downstairs until I was at least 15.
FWIW it gave me a heck of a headache.

I remember being in the town of Vale, OR in 1974 when they were spraying from airplanes. Don’t know if it was DDT or some other pesticide.

Same deal, usually went around about dusk when the skeeters were coming out. Made a helluva cloud. I thought it was way cool.
Killed the heck out of the skeeters too.

In Chicago in the 50’s, we were all scooted inside at the first sign of the fog trucks. It was always on a glorious evening when we would have much preferred to stay outside.

In fact, in the 1980s we could even play outside well into the night, with very few if any skeeto bites.

I remember those DDT trucks in the summertime. Spraying the neighborhoods. We kids would chase after those trucks inhaling big lungfuls of that stuff. We are still going strong in our 60s. The best thing was that the summers were mosquito-free. These days I have to wear my homemade mosquito outfit to beat the suckers onslaught.
