CNBC’s Kernen to Elizabeth Warren: ‘You Never Lose an Argument Because No One Can Ever Say Anything Back to You’
Breitbart ^ | 08/23/2024 | Pam Key

Posted on 08/23/2024 11:41:04 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Friday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” host Joe Kernen and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) debated Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris’ policy suggestion of implementing price controls during a 20-minute contentious interview.

Warren said, “Look at what happened to their profit margins. If they had just been passing along costs profit margins would have stayed about the same, but for some industries, some companies, profit margins shot up. Do you know where they shot up most often? It was in industries where there was a lot of concentration, a lot of market power, places where the market is not functioning competitively. So you end up with some, you remember all talked about egg prices, you end up with something like a giant egg producer, Cal-Maine. Cal-Maine raises the price of eggs their profit margins increased by 718%. That’s not just passing along costs.”

Kernen asked, “Can I tell you why those are fallacious and misleading at best?”

Warren said, “So look.”

Kernen said, “Why can’t I tell you — please, let me tell you. Kraft you say, 440% profit increase. The example you used, the prior quarter from the year before they had a charge of $1.3 billion, and an accounting change which wiped out of profits.”

Warren said, “You didn’t let me finish. Look at the data. Come on, we have economic study after economic study.”

To be fair, some important people do endorse Democrat economic policies. This guy, for one.

Again trying to point the blame for their policies at corporations.

That BS tactic only works on the retards already voting for dems in the first place.

Too bad for these retards that the overwhelming majority of Americans either don't tune in to these BS “news” shows in the first place, or just don't believe the BS the dems spew on a daily basis.

I get the feeling now that the Ho has accepted the nomination, the actual hammering home of the true source of our economic misery at this time will commence in earnest.

It’s really a key point in Marxist rhetoric — Rule #1 is You never lose an argument. You just don’t. Change the topic. Shout. Declare victory. Whatever it takes. Always. Under all circumstances. You win. They lose. There is no Rule #2.

Kernen said, “Senator listen we’re trying to help.”

Translation - You're ruining our election interference.

If a company works on a 20% Gross margin, and prices go up and they continue to work on 20%, their margin dollars go way up with cost increases, which probably irks the leftists to no end.

And if, like grocery stores, they work on a 5% profit margin, and that goes up 40% in dollars, you still only have a 2% price increase from the store compared to the 30-40% from inflation.

Up 718%? Profits on eggs went from , say 2 % , to 14 %? Doubtful.

With just percentages, we know NOTHING. If you have a profit of $10, and it goes up to $71.80, that’s a 718% profit increase and you are a price gouger!

It also doesn’t account for recovering from earlier losses.

I believe it’s now too late to swap candidates.

After she accepted the nomination, the candidates are more or less set in stone barring a catastrophe. State election laws aren’t going to be easy to surmount going forward, as it would no longer be a handful of states, but all of them.

Sorry, I think they’re stuck with her come Hell or High Water!

”industries where there was a lot of concentration, a lot of market power, places where the market is not functioning competitively”

Lack of competition can be caused by a lot of things. During the pandemic, a lot of small businesses were forced to shut down, which gave the big guys a huge advantage.
