To combat HIV transmission and improve access to care in Georgia, telemedicine provider MISTR has partnered with Walmart to offer free at-home HIV testing kits in seven Walmart stores, according to a MISTR news release.
In 2022, the South accounted for 49% of new HIV cases in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Georgia has some of the worst HIV rates in the nation. By the end of 2022, there were 63,984 people living with HIV in Georgia, with 2,575 new diagnoses. In 2021, the Atlanta metro area had the third highest rate of new HIV diagnoses in the country, with more than 25 of every 100,000 people living with HIV.

How bad is HIV in Atlanta that they are doing this?
As for "testing as prevention," that's like trying to drive your car using only the rear-view mirror to navigate.
It's the worst in black Democrat areas, everywhere. Fact.
Boy Atlanta really jumped the shark during pride month.
What is it with Georgia nothing seems to be going normal there.
Next will be free at-home abortions or abortion kits.
It’s all centered in Atlanta, a concentrated hot spot of leftist ideology. The rest of the state remains pretty sane.
Don’t we already have that with mifepristone?
The first symptom is a pounding sensation in the rear end.
People wonder Cuba quarantined the likes of them duh.
I don’t know. I don’t keep up with it. The whole idea sickens me.
How would an at-home kit cause a decrease in transmission rate? It’s only an indicator of whether you’re diseased or not and has nothing to do with the mechanisms/behaviors of transmitting it.
I'll explain it with their demented ideology. "If you know you're HIV-positive, from taking the at-home test, you're more likely to try to protect others from contracting it by insisting on 'safer sex,' or getting treatment to become lower the levels of virus in the blood to near 'undetectable' levels."
The problem there is that those most likely to be careless enough to contract HIV are not going to be responsible enough to handle an infection safely around others. It is well known that sufficient adherence to HIV meds is very rare, and missing even one or two days of doses can make the "detectable" again. The "undetectable equals untransmittable" farce just that. It gives these HIV carriers a false sense of security, so they take other risks far more frequently and with abandon. The effect is that they are likely MORE dangerous as a source of HIV than before.
Hope they’re more accurate than the COVID tests.
Is it a coincidence that you can’t spell MISTReatment without MISTR?
Helps in “sero-positioning”.
Hiv negative who are penetrators usually don’t get it from a hiv- or hiv+ partner. So hiv - is the “man”...
Hiv +, can have receptor sex with pos. or negative hiv vectors. They can only give penetrator sex with other positive hiv vectors.
They all die sooner later from somethin’ else, if not resistant hiv. What a grand expectation, or legacy.
Slow suicide by pleasure.
