KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – Military authorities in the eastern Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk on Friday urged civilians to speed up their evacuation because the Russian army is quickly closing in on what has for months been one of Moscow´s key targets in the war.
The call for people to get out as soon as possible came as Kyiv´s forces are trying to divert the Kremlin´s military focus to Russian soil by launching a bold incursion across the border into the Kursk region.
The urgency also underscored the high-stakes gamble Ukraine is making by taking the war into Russia with its ongoing assault that started Aug. 6. The attack was a daring attempt to change the dynamics of the 2½-year conflict, but it could leave Ukraine’s shorthanded defense at the mercy of Russia’s push.

“Wait, I thought Ukraine was winning now?”
Hard to tell, as ‘winning’ is only defined as getting through the November election without Ukraine being a major issue used against the Democrats. After all, why do you think we have so many Propagandists here spamming us every day on it?
Low birth rates in the region mean this is a disaster for both sides.
Ukraine’s situation is like that of Germany when it tried to retake territory in the west via the Battle of the Buldge while the Russians were chewing it up in te east.
“Low birth rates in the region mean this is a disaster for both sides.”
Far more than just them. Just about every culture with light-colored skin falls into that category.
Bold & brilliant tactics, baiting the ukes like that.
Ain’t propaganda grand? /s
Believe Biden and the DNC-CIA MSM or Zelinski because they lie for a living.
We're picking up speed in the race to get to The Last Ukrainian Alive.
Unfortunately, if The Last Ukrainian Alive ends up in Russian custody, The Last Ukrainian Alive may not be able to choose the Pronouns applicable.
That would be a shame.
“Pork Roast” could be captured in a few weeks if the Ukes don’t divert resources from elsewhere.. There’s not many fortifications between “Pork Roast” and the Dniper river..hmmmm
