Using Frank Luntz's account but it's all over X and President Trump is being skewered for the comment he made I believe I know exactly what he was trying to say, though it was mid-thought in conversation and not clearly stated, but the quote (which is missing context) is provided as the above. I am pretty sure that he means it's better to get one medal than the other because the other means you're likely dead and we'd rather people be alive and healthy. Comments are terrible on this one though and people like Lunz are taking off the mask to attack. Thought I'd drop it here for the group to discuss. Veterans have allegedly been calling CBS news to say how angry they are at him and the suckers and losers comment he was accused of making is a common jab. Thoughts?

He’s going to be nuked in the press tomorrow over this. Luntz and McCarthy are probably in bed together right now in their apartment salivating over it.

The mental and physical cost of winning a Congressional Medal of Honor is far greater than that for the recipients of the Congressional Medal of Freedom.

I don’t have a problem with what he said.

I think he meant maybe two things,

1. that GIVING the award is better (easier) FOR ME, because it’s hard to give a medal to someone who has died or is badly injured.

2. Maybe he mean’t in an awkward way that getting the congressional medal is better for the person getting it, because they’re alive when all to often the person getting the CMH is dead.

He rambles.

This is a bunch of crap. The Medal of Honor implies you put your ass on the line in combat period. EOS The other crap say your a guy that didn’t get shot at but worked hard to support the. Greater good. Rush Limbaugh got a medal for working hard for the country He didn’t deserve to be medel of honor. Eugene sledge, and Audie Murphy, and all the big guys at the battle for Leytte , they ,deserved the congressional Medal of Honor. IMO. Also the men that took Okinoua .

Congressional Medal of Honor is not a technically correct term.
It’s the “Medal of Honor” awarded by he President on behalf of Congress.

https://www.loc.gov/collections/charles-reed/articles-and-essays/the-medal-of-honor/

There is a Congressional Medal of Honor Society chartered by Congress, that refers to the award as the Medal Of Honor

Might be sarcasm - a dig pointjng out that the Medal of Freedom is basically a political reward for friends, whereas the Medal of Honor has to be earned at risk of life and limb. If sarcasm, not a great idea to air it in public against one of his biggest donors, Miriam Adelson. There were rumors of tensions with her, so this might have bubbled to the surface.

Oh so what. He gave a great tough speech and this is what they do.
Just had this discussion with my wife. No matter what a republican says, or if they say nothing, a controversy will be created.

he was talking about Miriam Adelson who received the Medal of Freedom. I agree that he probably tried to express a very benign sentiment but he worded it really awkwardly to say the least. If your opponents can harm you by quoting you verbatim that’s on you.

Is what he said factual? Sounds like all he said was with one you’re badly wounded or dead and with onw you’re alive and can appreciate it. This is nothing. They are trying to take the pressure off of stolen valor Tim. When the Rats have a problem they try and make it a Trump problem. I saw a story that said Trump was for single payer and now he’s not then they said same thing with Kama Kameleon so I guess it’s a wash. More of the Democrat response team making crap up.

Thoughts?

I mean, what's there to say? At this point, people either understand what Trump is or they don't. Same with Harris, as far as that goes.

Seems to me that what people really need to be thinking about is how did we get to such a place in our country and what's the best path forward. "Representative democracy" has run its course. What comes next?

He’s saying she’s fortunate to get such a high award without having to get a shot to pieces or killed in the process.

Unforced error and an unnecessary distraction.

Whatever he meant, it eats up a news cycle on a non-issue.

We can guess as to what he meant, that the condition of the recipient of the Medal of Freedom is “better” than that of the typical recipient of the Medal of Honor, but even a light-hearted disparagement of the latter is a goof.
