A convicted murderer escaped from custody Tuesday morning while being transported to a medical appointment at a North Carolina hospital, the sheriff's office said.
Ramone Alston, 30, broke away from a corrections officer while being escorted to UNC Hospital in Hillsborough, according to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.

Probably faked a reason for the appointment so he could get out of the prison.
They can set a bounty per selected body part.
Will have (most) of the parts back by evening, imo.

I think prisoners should be allowed to get gender reassignment, under two conditions. They pay for it themselves, and they have to stay in the prison population with convicts who have the same sex chromosome assignments that they have.
So, no leg shackles and such as every other transport incorporates. Odd.
Please deliver Ramone to the sub basement of the UNC hospital as soon as possible.

Apparently dogs followed his scent into the woods and then lost him. I think the escapee had assistance from the inside. Prison guards aren’t the smartest in the hiring pool and I’ve read so many stories over the years of one “romancing” a guard who then assists them with an escape. I’d look to the guards that escorted him for more information.
The Sherriff said he managed to get his leg shackles off, but he doesn't know how he did that.
Insider assistance. Check the jailors and his transport people out.
Should have killed him when they “caught” him.
