Aleksander Lukashenko surprised the residents of Vitebsk on Saturday by paying a visit. The Belarusian leader suggested that another president might soon lead the country. "You should get used to the fact that the president will be different," he said.
Aleksander Lukashenko has been ruling Belarus since 1994. The leader, however, is entirely dependent on the Kremlin in his actions. He does everything Vladimir Putin orders him to maintain his power. It's no wonder, since Russian troops are stationed in Belarus, and nuclear weapons have been deployed there.

Aleksander Lukashenko used a mysterious statement during his Saturday visit to the town of Horodyszcze, in the Vitebsk region. His words were quoted by the Interfax agency. The leader suggested that he might soon stop performing his function.
I am already starting to publicly tell you all: you should get used to the fact that the president will be different. (...) You must get used to the fact that I am not eternal, just like all of you - Lukashenko told the gathering.

Did Gorby get that in writing?
A puppet is npt a leader. Lukashenko is Putin’s puppet.
Belarus is a ‘suburb’ of Russia. Putin is the president of Belarus. Putin will be officially giving orders, and Lukashenko knows it. Lukashenko will never be heard from again.
Horse crap. Everyone with any sense of history or a vague understanding of geopolitics knew that the former Warsaw Pact states and the Baltic republics would run, not walk to NATO membership at the first opportunity.
The Russians knew this. They also retained more than enough intelligence capability to see every single NATO country reducing military size through the 1990s.
(((PING!)))
To be added to the zeeper follies pinglist, ping me bro... we need laughter!
Go sell that slop to the boyz at the National Review.
Some pre 2022 information (thus with some insulation from propaganda)
Population about 9 million. Suffered significant pop loss WW II. Down to 7M. Back to 10M about 1999, down to 9.4M now.
Life expectancy for males 67. For females 78. This is VERY common in eastern Europe. It’s not a Russian misery thing that leads to alcohol. It’s just an oddity of that entire region. Ukraine has a 13 year male/female gap. Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia — all have large male/female life expectancy gaps.
Belarus has no oil or gas. And of course we know this is largely all that matters in the modern world.
48% Orthodox Christian. 41% not religious. In 1940 10% Jewish. Wiped out in the Holocaust. <1% now.
NOT ONE WORD. I suspect that he's disappointed...
And? The next guy will be just as bad.
Correction, Pripyat area has oil. Close to Chernobyl.
Plans for future production as Chernobyl contamination fades.
He’s a NeverTrump Rat, like most of them are. Lots of foreigners too.
“You should get used to the fact that the president will be different,”
Maybe he means it’s no more mister nice guy. He’s got nukes now.
“Suffered significant pop loss WW II. Down to 7M...In 1940 10% Jewish. Wiped out in the Holocaust. <1% now.”
Rattler sounds like a paid troll. Either that or crazy & mean.
It just doesn’t hold up. Alcohol consumption is not higher per capita everywhere in that region. It’s high elsewhere with no life expectancy age gap by gender.
It IS regional. Not state of being or happiness. Kazahkstan, now very rich in gas, has the issue as well, but low alcohol consumption (muslims). Romania has the highest alcohol consumption in the world but only a 7 yr gap. US gap is 5 yrs, with Covid effects still in place.
Some odd genetic thing that kills males before females.
