Ohio Senator JD Vance is being attacked for his military record after he criticized that of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the recently announced running mate of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Speaking to reporters in Michigan on Wednesday, Donald Trump's running mate accused Walz of "stolen valor," of having "lied" about serving in a war and of "abandoning" his unit......
Vance himself served in the Marine Corps for four years, and he also never saw combat. He worked as a combat correspondent in Iraq between August 2005 and February 2006. The senator has now been widely condemned for attacking Walz's military record as his own background is scrutinized.
Alexander Vindman, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Vance enlisted & served 4 yrs, including 6 months in Iraq in 2005 as a reporter w/ a Public Affairs section of a Marine Aircraft Wing.
"Walz served 24 yrs earning 8 promotions & ending as a Command Sergeant Major, the highest NCO position. I don't think JD wants to compare records but if he insists."
Jake Broe, a U.S. Air Force veteran who served as a nuclear and missile operations officer, wrote: "Tim Walz retired from military service after 25 years of honorable service. He retired an E-9 Command Sergeant Major. JD Vance went to Iraq for six months and wrote press releases from an air conditioned office."

Vance served in Iraq at Al Asad. That place took mortars all the time and is the base that just got hit with Iranian backed Iraqi milita rockets. They don’t know what the hell they are talking about.
To a leftist, walz, the truth is always a lie.
Is Vance guilty of stolen valor?
“He retired an E-9 Command Sergeant Major”? Let us see his retired ID card.
Nossiree.
The article is a bold face lie, he did not retire as a Command Sergeant Major and even the National Guard refuted that claim.
Basically Vindman is a serial lair and a dishonorable man.
And since when does 20+ years of dishonorable behavior count as virtue over 4 years of honorable service, contemptible to the extreme.
And that fatass Vindman denigrates Vance for “only” being there for six months? Not smart. That needs a response.
Vance never claimed to be in combat. If I remember correctly, he was moved to the job AHEAD of several officers because they realized he was good at it.
The important difference here is that Vance hasn’t tried to misrepresent his service, whereas Walz has tried to misrepresent his.
They are trying to change the narrative here, but the main point is that Walz misrepresented, Vance didn’t.
That’s like saying a battlefield medic never saw combat.
There are a lot of people who don’t comprehend what it means to be in a combat zone. Sure Vance was not a “grunt.” But I know people who were “behind the lines” in Iraq who spent weeks in the hospital following a missile attack.
There were not a lot of missile attacks in Italy.
And Vance has not claimed to be anything he wasn’t.
But to the common person who has no ties to the military, its traditions, or the ethos...these don’t seem “important.”
What they don’t understand is that Walz could have gained major credibility if he had just said that he spent 24 years in the MN National Guard. Period. Instead, he tried to make it MORE impressive than it was.
“Walz served 24 yrs earning 8 promotions…”
8 promotions in 24 years. Son-in-law served 12 before going to active reserves. Two combat tours in Afghanistan, Paratrooper, Army Ranger, top ten Army wide recruiter, E-7.
He’s an AH, but he supports Trump.
Who is this “Lyin’ Jake” Broe feller?
Q: What's transparent and lies in a ditch?
A: A vindman with the cr@p beaten out of him.
Desmond Doss never carried a rifle.
Sounds like Vance deployed and did the job he was ordered to do, while Walz bowed out and let his unit down at a critical time.
What did Vindman do in the war?
Senator Vance, having served in Iraq for a year, qualifies as a combat veteran and is entitled to wear his unit’s patch on his right shoulder, meaning he was in a combat theater.
If MSG/Gov Walz had deployed with his FA battalion, he would have qualified to wear its patch on his right sleeve, instead, he bolted when the chips were down.
This is Newsweak BS. Not credible. The Fags at Newsweak have decided to save their ho’s “White Dude” by putting Vance’s military record under “screwtinny”. Screw Newsweak. The favorite Tampon of the Homeless.
Vance has not lied about his military service. Vance is not guilty of stolen valor.
We know that Tampon Tim has lied about his military service and his rank, and that he is guilty of stolen valor.
Newsweak with its misleading headline is just gaslighting in an attempt to divert attention from leftist scum like Tampon Tim.
