National political polls are struggling to grapple with the revived Democratic presidential ticket, but two that have been updating regularly show an advantage for former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris.
CNBC and Rasmussen Reports have new data on Thursday giving Trump an edge, with CNBC attributing his lead to growing concerns about the economy and a surge of support from middle-aged voters.
CNBC said Trump leads by 2 points, 48%-46%, within the margin of error.
In that survey, Trump leads Harris 2-to-1 on who would handle the economy better.
What’s more, while Harris has helped to revive Democratic support from youthful voters, there has been a swing to Trump among millennials and Generation X voters.
“Young voters showed far greater support for Harris than they did for Biden, backing the vice president now by 10 points, compared to backing Trump by 2 points in the NBC July poll. That was offset by a big swing of 12 points among voters aged 35-49 towards Trump. The age group now supports Trump by 9 points,” the story on the poll said.
In the Rasmussen Reports poll, Trump has maintained his lead, 49%-44%, in a head-to-head contest.
The big change in that survey is the apparent shift of support from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to Trump. A week earlier, Trump led Harris by just 1 point in the six-way matchup, while Kennedy was at 5%. Now, Kennedy is at 3%, and Trump leads Harris in that multi-candidate lineup 49%-44%.

The fact that there’s any race at all, let alone a close one, is pointing to a very serious problem with the people, and the press.
the polls have obviously moved in Harris’ favor, anyone that says otherwise is in denial.
Trump is holding fire for some reason. But I am confident he is going to unleash hell soon.
I was telling someone the other day, you can hate Trump as a person and even disagree with some or most of his policy positions. But, you must see that we’re better off with him rather than Harris. If you can’t see that, you’re ignorantly blind.
I think we are seeing two entirely different campaign strategies.
Trump is running a strategic targetted campaign focused on the key swing states, while Harris is carpet bombing nationally hoping to move the general election poll numbers. Obviously the EC college wins the race.. BUT, sometimes perception can swing “some” low information voters.
Some idiot swing voters just like to vote for the winner, perception is important
I think part of the reason for Kamala's decent showing in the polls is because there's a sense of relief among the Democrats that someone other than Joe Biden is the nominee. Hopefully this "honeymoon" period will soon fade, and Donald Trump will continue to build momentum. However, we cannot take anything for granted. It's easy to dismiss polls we don't like as "BS" and biased", and praise polls we like as evidence of a coming Trump landslide. Forget the polls. Remember the "Red Wave" that never happened. We have to fight for every vote right up until the polls close on election night.
Sometimes it is lonely being an independent pollster with integrity.
Trump is beating Kamala Harris.
Just like he was beating Biden (remember the numbers said she polled worse than him for four years?) pic.twitter.com/tyulyRslBI— Rasmussen Reports (@Rasmussen_Poll) August 8, 2024
Trump is beating Harris IN the honeymoon period. As Jeb Bush used to say, this is a BIG DEAL!
All of the polls are BS inclduing these ones. 5% swings...20+ million people just changing their minds from poll to poll? Trump keeps blasting polls, i guess he does that to keep enthusiasm high but really whp cares. Get the ballots. The Rats ran a zombie and “won” using that strategy. Figure it out and get it done. Republicans have a GREAT candidate.
In Washington, it is said that no polls are meaningful until Labor Day. Voters tend not to focus on the choice between the two candidates until summer is over.
But you have to look at the liberal mindset: They hate Trump so much, they would rather suffer an economic meltdown and or world war three under Harris, than vote for Trump.
The polls moved? Or the electorate moved?
Polls are not really trying to move the electorate, but they can be paid to move fundraising. Campaign staff cares about fundraising (their salaries) far more than they care about winning.
Minds do not change. Nothing has happened to change them.
Whatever lead you think Trump had 3 weeks ago, or you think Harris/Biden had 3 weeks ago, that has not changed.
The most powerful indicator I have seen in the past month came out today. Trump is campaigning in Montana — to grab a Senate seat.
That’s a day not in a Battleground. This is powerful.
Trump needs to re enforce the following
No taxes on social security
No taxes on tips
Get us out of the UN save billions per year and with that money : build the wall , redistribute for new housing
You need to scream out loud
This is impossible, just a few hours ago, a NPR / Marxist poll was published showing Kacula up 23 points in just a few days!
Orange man bad, Kacula is brat.. like omg!!!! /s off
The Marist poll was days ago.
Not true marist has a 23 point swing for kamela and the “concerned few are concerned “
I was referring to the post here on freepers:

I think the raising of Harris’s general poll numbers has the following effect on low information voters: “if so many people are for Harris then what Trump is saying about her must not be true.”
So Trump needs to work on general polling as well as swing states.
I still think the greatest danger is the cheat and the control of illegal votes. A hurrah to Virginia’s governor for passing paper ballots only. Need to really work on Georgia and Pennsylvania.
