State Fair of Texas no longer allowing guns on fairgrounds
Fox 4 News ^ | 8/8/0224 | Fox 4 News

Last year, State Fair of Texas officials were forced to review its weapons policy because of a shooting in the food court that injured three people.

Police say 22-year-old Cameron Turner opened fire. They say he did not have a license to carry, which would have allowed him to have a gun.

Because the State Fair of Texas is a private, not-for-profit organization, it can prohibit firearms within the fairgrounds.

That includes gun owners with a license to carry or who practice constitutional carry, concealed carry and open carry.

Other weapons, such as illegal knives, clubs, explosives, ammunition, and even replica or hoax weapons, are prohibited as well.

In the past, the fair prohibited weapons on the property but made exceptions for licensed gun owners. That won't be the case in 2024.

The only exception will be for peace officers with credentials.

Their solution is to punish the law abiding citizens for the actions of the criminals.

Makes sense to me. /S

So now the armed criminals will outnumber the armed responders. Such a prohibition does nothing to stop illegally bringing a gun to commit crime, literally makes it easier now to kill someone.

Moral blindness

You're more likely to need a gun between your car and the front gate than on the inside.

Announcing this will likely encouraging some nut job... Just think of it... A nut job in a state where guns are everywhere may be deterred... So walking around fairgrounds where nobody is packing, is too much of an enticement.

Prepare for carnage.

Wow. Here in rural PA, our fairgrounds host the gun shows as often as possible. They’re a huge draw, no pun intended. The only complaint you hear is not enough gun shows (and, of course, not enough guns).

Because the State Fair of Texas is a private, not-for-profit organization,

Insurance companies dictate to private entities what is dictated to them.

Well, have been going every year for decades and carrying every since they allowed it. I won’t be back and have posted a reason on their “contact us” page. Not that they will care (nor I), the last few years has seen a switch in demographics toward non-English speakers anyways and it was getting to be too much.

Liberals ruin everything they touch.

A woman was crawling around the floor in the kitchen. Her husband asked her what she was doing.

“Looking for my earring I dropped in the bedroom closet,” she said.

“Why are looking in the kitchen instead of the closet?,” asked the puzzled husband.

“Because the light is better in here,” she replied.

Gun banners want to think they’re doing something to stem gun violence, so they attack the lawful gun owner because it is easier than dealing with the actual criminals.

Turning the state fair into a please shoot us zone?

Or will they institute TSA style perimeter control?

“Their solution is to punish the law abiding citizens for the actions of the criminals.”

That’s always their “solution”.

It’s a sad shame... that the Texas State Fair is another tradition that has been “fundamentally transformed” into yet another failure.

I can recall how it used to be... but back in 2006 (I think that was the year) I went with my family, a group of about ten people, and if not for the people around me, I would have felt a bit afraid and threatened. It was not a pleasant experience. Loud, raucous behavior, probably from alcohol intake... and basically people acting like they ‘owned’ the fair. The crowd was mostly blacks there on that day. It felt like we’d been transported to a fair in Africa. I never went back and don’t intend to.

A similar “transformation” occurred at Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston. My friends gifted me with a yearly pass, so we went there and intended to get the yearly pass. The sign-up process was brutal. All blacks doing the processing that were very unfriendly, rude and a few even hostile. By the time I was “signed up” I was wondering what the hell I was even doing there. Never went back.

If this sounds racist to some, it is what it is. It’s also the absolute truth. I don’t dictate reality. The nation has been and still is being changed, and not for the better. If we don’t get Trump/Vance back in the WH, we are, quite literally, screwed as a “free country”.

So now law-abiding visitors to the fair will be disarmed and the law-ignoring criminals at the fair will be armed.

How will that help?!?

Great. Setting up a k9illing fields for some anarchist to slaughter the masses with no one being able to stop him.

Because we all know what gun free zones and anti-gun laws mean to mass shooters.
