Pentagon says Ukraine’s attack into Russia is not escalatory

The Defense Department on Thursday said Ukraine’s attack into a region of Russia this week is not escalatory and is consistent with U.S. policy.

Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters that Ukraine is “taking action to protect themselves” in the Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops entered Tuesday night and are continuing to fight, putting enormous pressure on Russia.

The U.S. has a policy of allowing Ukraine to makes strikes in Russia with American-made weapons as long as it is related to a cross-border attack from Russian forces, and Singh said the Kursk attack, even though it involves troops instead of missiles or drones, is consistent with that policy.

“We don’t support long-range attacks into Russia,” she said.

It’s a flanking counterattack against a poorly defended line.

I’m trying to figure out the controversy.

Imagine the boon for Putin and Russia when the idiots in DC escalate this and or their idiocy in the ME into the closing of the Strait of Hormuz. Linkage, remember linkage in international affairs? Let the Harris Campaign choke on $7 gas going into the election.

I would be fine if Ukraine drove all the way to Moscow and captured it.

I simply do not want the United States involved with a single penny invested, or snippet of intelligence delivered.

Agreed, the fact the Ukies crossed a line drawn on a map means little to me. However, those troops will be destroyed at all costs for a cheap publicity stunt by St Z.

The Ukies venture has no sustainability, supply lines are already being severed. It reminds me of the Ukies crossing the Dniepner in rubber rafts near Kherson, eventually wiped out ( three Ukie Marine Battalions) and the “ offensive “ scrapped.

The US policy is no US Arms to be used in Russia proper. The EU has the same provision attached to their arms for Ukraine.

Without a US commander in chief, there is no controlling authority in US diplomatic or military coordianation (or CIA); each agency is doing their own rouge thing.

Blinken threatens China; China quits buying US securities and FED talks to China; Blinken comes back to China and says why won’t you buy our US Securities, and China says why should we finance your weapons to attack us with? Makes no sense but without an effective US Board of Directors working under the CEO (President), no one is corrdinating between agencies for single US interest.

The is faced with a mis-mash of signals coming out of the US, but the US cannot be trusted. So we get to this Kursk offensive and in the past Ukraine could not be allowed to use these weapons inside Russia, per Sullivan and Blinken. But now the Pentagon and Blinken’s deputy say there is nothing to prevent Ukraine from attacking inside Russia.

So one thing we know is the Hooties and Iran will get hypersonic missiles. But did Syria get those missiles? The US has a base in Syria that is blocking the pipeline the would have connected Russian oil or Syrian oil to Iran, and eventually China or Africa.

We are about to live Obama’s dream of taking the US down a few notches. The world map is realigning because the US is bankrupted even though we still peddle US securities to the world, fewer nations are buying them. Without their sale we cannot finance Marxism, Globalism, or our Military Overseas.

Biden, Sullivan, Blinken and the FED have blown it. We have trampled the world using the USD and SWIFT. Brics is on the rise and we are on the way down. As America becomes weaker we will be treated with distain by even the smallest countries who will give us the middle finger. The wolves are gathering as we bleed out. 2032 is the year the Eagle’s wings are finally clipped.

Kursk needs to hold a referendum on its future - should it be Independent or should it formally rejoin Ukraine?

My read on this is there is a calculus taking place in Kiev and it is pointing at Trump.

Trump will end the war, and he’s not too interested in who has a black or white hat on their heads. He doesn’t see Russia as threatening US borders.

So a few brigades rushing north across the border would appear to be, as most Ukraine actions have appeared to be, all about media coverage. It is not clear who they want to influence, since Trump has a campaign to run and is not watching the Ukraine coverage obsessively like some Freepers.

But the media is the focus, maybe on advice out of London. The new PM there and his people maybe are pushing different approaches. Again, though, for no apparent reason. All minds have already been made up.

And so, looking past the media, technology did not change in the past week and that defines victory — and so odds seem high this Kursk activity will mean nothing, for either side.

Non-event.
