Quite a few ukes up in my neck of the woods. They’re working the camps supporting oil and gas. They all blame zelensky and the west for this war. Seems many here never got that memo.

If only people were this passionate about the issues at home.

deploying around 1,000 troops

Those must be dead Ukrainian soldiers, because, they've all been killed since 2 1/2 years ago. But, it's smart of the Ukrainians to send ghost soldiers across the Russian border, since dead or ghost soldiers can't be killed again. The Russians will have to take lessons from "The Walking Dead" series in order to kill those dead Ukrainians again.

Only idiot would believe this stunt is anything but a distraction from the fact Ukraine is getting its ass kicked on the actual battlefield.

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson:

Meanwhile, Ukraine is busy committing military suicide with its PR attack into Russian territory near Kursk. The attacking force lacked air cover and the power to sustain the attack. The Ukrainian troops were savaged by Russian air strikes, artillery and drones. Some have opined that this was a feint or a diversion, i.e., focus Russian attention in the north and then strike at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Maybe, but Ukraine lost significant resources in terms of men and equipment that cannot be easily replaced.

Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that Ukraine managed to reach Kursk. Okay. How do they resupply their troops and sustain the momentum of the attack. Russia has a wealth of resources — manpower, combat air, artillery and drones — to bog the Ukrainians down and chew them up. Those who believe that this would force Russia to seek a negotiated end to the war are the same delusional clowns who promised that Ukrainian troops would be sloshing around on the beaches of Crimea last summer.

This attack is likely to have the opposite effect — Russia will accelerate its offensive against Ukraine and will not negotiate until Ukraine begs for mercy.

A Pyrrhic victory is one in which everybody dies and the thing you were fighting for is lost.

Unless the entire force is wiped out, an ultimate withdrawal would not mean there was no achievement.

The Ukrainians have proven quite capable of holding ground from the Russians. They will disrupt Russian supply, and will draw forces from other areas. Plus an embarrassment for Putin.

But they probably can’t invest the forces needed to hold the area.

Since Putin wants a truce to reflect the reality on the ground, it would be interesting if Ukraine could say, well we happen to be holding some Russian real estate.

I’m not that impressed by armored vehicles driving unopposed through rural areas, but I guess it illustrates Russia had no defense ready in this sector.

I’m glad to see the tanks able to accomplish something.

If Ukraine can do any lasting damage to that fuel transit town, that would be good, but I don’t know how much infrastructure there is to destroy.

Kursk has no strategic meaning, it’s a show. But it helps distract from the disaster coming to Pokrovsk, Ukraine.

I was wondering what the point was to their incursion. It just made no sense to me.

Well, if this incursion doesn't make sense to a great military mind like yours, then I guess that it is just nonsensical.

You have been poring over maps and reports on troop movements on a daily basis for the past 2-1/2 years, right?

Regards,

Haha! You're the one that made the post full of hope.
But, millions of Russians have left Russia, intending to not be drafted and sent to the war zone for a war which hardly anybody in Russia expected or approved of.

Russian infrastructure 'at home' is not being damaged, but their military infrastructure is suffering badly from the depletion of soldiers and depletion of armaments and depletion equipment, and the depletion of 'will'. People at home are not willing to continue the war, but, their DICTATOR decides for them. How's that?

Ukreaine is suffering a lot of dead soldiers and dead women and children and a lot of dead older citizens. I suppose you have something to cheer about with that kind of disaster in Ukraine.

Nevertheless, Russia is also suffering with hundreds of thousands dead and injured soldiers, and tens of thousands widowed soldier wives, and tens of thousands orphaned children. I suppose that's something for you to cheer about too?

Let's also not forget the hundreds of billions in cost to Russia with the invasion, which Russia cannot afford while being a third-world economy. Cheer about that too, won't you?

Belarus adds an opponent on the north that Ukraine can’t really afford to open up. Again Ukraine doesn’t have the men for a two or three front war.

Like posted, it is most likely a counter assault to pull Russian resources off of other places. Or an operation to take out something local of strategic value.

The only reason Ukraine is such disaster because Zelensky was pushing for NATO membership. Indirectly Ukrainians are at fault for electing such a moron.

I hate every neocon. I do not cheer wars and killing of people. I hate neocon warmonger Nikki Haley. I hate people who support unnecessary foreign wars such as in Ukraine.

Ukraine was NOT a disaster before Putin invaded. And Zelensky did not kill his own soldiers and he did not bomb his own infrastructure. Putin was looking for an excuse to invade and he formulate one about NATO getting close to Russia's borders. You side with Putin, but, it's alright. Go on hating neocons, who had nothing to do with Putin's invasion You can also hate Zeepers, which is an invented term for hating on those that support Ukraine. BTW, I don't support Zelensky and I don't support Putin either. I support the people of Ukraine and their right to have a free and independent country. No excuses by Putin can ever change the fact that, he was just looking for a reason to take back Ukraine into a Russian Federation, equivalent to his old USSR.

I do not cheer wars and killing of people.

Yets, that's exactly what you do when you applaud Putin's destruction of Ukraine and the killing of its people and soldiers.

I hate neocon warmonger Nikki Haley. I hate people who support unnecessary foreign wars such as in Ukraine.

I don't care about Haley either, but, there is no bigger warmonger than Putin, and yet, you want him to succeed.

A foreign war is what Putin is waging against a free and independent country. But, you don't hate that?
