CHICAGO (WLS) -- Wednesday was a glorious day to enjoy Chicago tourist attractions, but will there be the same vibrant energy during the Democratic National Convention? Some hope so.
The Chicago Loop Alliance held a meeting Wednesday about safety and security during the Democratic National Convention.
The organization represents 30 businesses. It urged its member to go about business as usual during the convention.
"We haven't heard any of our businesses recommend that their employees not come to work," said Kiana DiStasi with the Chicago Loop Alliance.
The president of Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association, Michael Jacobson, said some hotels are sold out and there has been a recent increase in bookings.
"Especially since the replacement of Vice President Harris was made on the ticket, there have been a surge in booking just in the last three to four weeks, so I think there is a lot positive energy a lot of excitement coming into Chicago," Jacobson said.
If the 50,000 people expected to come to the city for the DNC don't boost business.

... minus the filth, looting, and violence.
Rioting is a boost.
For ahem a certain category of “work”.....sure.
They’ll probably burn you down with riots again
Every ONE of 'em calling for gun legislation/disarmament.
It’s going to be a s***show. Of course the media will not show what is going on outside.
When I was out of a job and in my late fifties, I decided I’d apply for anything I was qualified for. While reading the ads I developed a different idea. No cities. No California. No New York. The jobs where there. The pay was there. But I decided I wasn’t going anywhere I couldn’t conceal carry. And Chicago? I didn’t even read past the location on those ads. Even the nice areas are cr@p holes due to the special tax districts. So, you’re looking at state tax, city tax and a plethora of special tax zones to support a park where junkies shoot up or some other liberal doodad. The Lefties will use the local cover to make the Democratic convention a real riot. Anyone who goes there deserves what happens to them.
Does burning looting and murder count
We were mostly peaceful in Milwaukee. I hope they did well. Because of the security constraints some businesses were not able to open or not able to serve their usual customers. We sure spent a few bucks though.
It’ll increase the walk-in trade.
Walk-in.
Walk-out.
Don’t pay.
If you’re going to protest at a major political event, the Democrat convention is your last chance before the election.
I expect Plate Glass and board up services to do well.
Plywood sales, replacement glass, fire extinguishers and rebuilding material sales are a ‘boost’, I guess.
Plate glass business maybe. Brothels and package stores for sure.
The Democrat Convention is gonna be a gas. Tear gas...
Some surrounding businesses should sell window views for locals to watch the fun.
Ya, but bullet proof glass is expensive! LOL!
