Trump team says it’s relieved Kamala Harris chose ‘extremist’ Tim Walz: ‘An easy opponent’

PHILADELPHIA – Donald Trump’s backers say they sighed a sigh of relief over Vice President Kamala Harris choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, pointing to his “radical” record and non-swing-state origins.

The Trump campaign, in its first statement on Walz, painted the governor Tuesday as being as “leftist” as Harris and claimed he has been trying to make Minnesota a liberal den akin to California, where Harris is from.

“It’s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State,” Trump campaign rep Karoline Leavitt said.

Harris is set to make her debut with her new running mate in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, when they will speak about their joint agenda and plans to defeat Trump.

Excellent description. He is Bernie Sanders with a comb ... and he is a sop to the Bernie wing of the party. This will be like the George McGovern election. Give the manifestly weird left wing nuts all that the want, take your lumps, and get ready for the next election when the demos go back to stealth lefties who do their destruction slowly (which the extreme left hates) but surely (which the elite leadership loves). The demos are setting up for big Mike and/or Newsome in ‘28.

Funny becasuse Walz won’t help her much at all
she already has the extreme leftist vote
she needed to pick somebody mainstream to try and pick up a few “regular American voters”

I'm not sure what Walz brings to the ticket. I don't see him being a big influence on the Rust Belt states. He might protect Minnesota from a Trump flip but really, Minnesota would just be the cherry on top. In a situation where Minnesota flips to Trump, he's likely already at 330+ EVs.

Commie-la could have chosen better IMO but then what you expect from an imbecile. Walz is basically an old, white version of her. I don't see Walz being a dynamic campaigner, nor a draw to the youth vote nor a draw to any minority block (other than the Somali vote in Minnesota). I'm sure we will be overwhelmed in the next week with stories about how this is the greatest VP selection in history but I sure don't see it. Almost every name mentioned as a candidate for VP seemed more threatening than Walz.

He is basically Hubert Humphrey without the charisma.

A sigh of relief is exactly what I’m feeling. Pennsylvania is going to be so close that Shapiro really might have made a difference. If Trump can win PA, the election is likely over. And Kamala going the radical route means we still have a really good shot at winning PA and getting this over with the easy way. Man, this is great!

I was so sure it was going to be Shapiro because that would have helped her the most electorally without a doubt. On a sad note, however, it really did look like Shapiro was the one but his pro-Israel Jewishness was the block for a lot of Democrats against him. And in 21st century America that is pretty horrifying.

Maybe. How competent is Governor Walz on the debate stage. He’s got years of experience over Senator Vance. Policies aside, that experience can be substantial. I’m going to be spending some time today reading up on him. Already see he is a 24-year military veteran, which even if we don’t support him, is worth respect. Ah, but the policies...

Walz is such an extremist he makes Kamala Harris look Conservative in comparison. He singlehandedly wrecked the economy of Minneapolis, that's to be sure.

(Interesting tidbit: during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stops in Minneapolis on June 23 and 24, 2023, the city did not really benefit from the Tour, because the attendees quickly left the metro Minneapolis area after each show. There was supposed to be a fair celebrating the show in Minneapolis, but almost nobody showed up, probably a fallout from the ugliness of 2020.)

Walz is unknown outside his state, and when people do start hearing about him, it won’t be good. He has a long and terrible record and reputation.

I think this choice proves Kammy was out of options. Only those worse than her would agree to be her bitch.

“Vance should wreck Walz at the debate”

Who says Gov’ner Walz would even agree to a debate? It is by no means certain that “Que mala” will be formally coronated - er - nominated to be the candidate of the Democrat (Socialist) party, for the office of President of the United States.

We will learn more about his military record—it is not one of his strengths.

Lol.

Yeah, he is a 24 year veteran who bailed when he was told his unit was going to deploy to Iraq.

He is not a "Democrat". He is a rabid Leftist. A socialist. I have absolutely as much respect for HIM as I have for suckbags like this one:

even though my mind was telling me VP choices don’t matter I was worried that Shapiro might help enough in Penn to make the difference.

So I love this choice, or basically nearly any choice besides Shapiro.
