Former New Jersey governor helps launch Republicans for Harris

Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman was one of 24 Republican elected officials to endorse Democrat Kamala Harris for president on Sunday.
“I was a proud Republican, but Donald Trump is unfit to lead our nation. We saw during his four years in office how he consistently chose himself, his pursuit of power, and his billionaire friends over the American people while spewing lies and spreading chaos at every turn,” said Whitman. “It’s time to move forward by electing Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Republicans for Harris launched with support from two other former governors Jim Edgar of Illinois and Bill Weld of Massachusetts, and two former members of President George W. Bush’s cabinet: Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, a former U.S. Senator from Nebraska, and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, a former congressman from Illinois.
The list of GOP Harris backers includes former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and sixteen former House members: Rod Chandler of Washington; Tom Coleman of Missouri; Dave Emery of Maine; Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland; Jim Greenwood of Pennsylvania; Adam Kinzinger and Joe Walsh of Illinois; John LeBoutillier., Susan Molinari and Jack Quinn of New York; Denver Riggleman of Virginia; Claudine Schneider of Rhode Island; Christopher Shays of Connecticut; Peter Smith of Vermont; Alan Steelman of Texas; and David Trott of Michigan.
“Republicans for Harris will be an important way for us to bring that message to the voters who will decide this election,” said Whitman. “Now is the time to put country over party and elect Kamala Harris as our next president.”
Whitman was born a Republican: her father served several terms as Republican State Chairman, and her mother was the Republican National Committeewoman from New Jersey. She served as governor from 1994 to 2001, and was in Bush’s cabinet as director of the Environmental Protection Administration.

It’s one thing to not like Trump and not endorse or vote for him. Another entirely to endorse the dim alternative which is far far worse. Renounce being a Republican and join their side and make a clean break. There should be some process for the Pubs to boot out such traitors.
