The U.S. embassy in Lebanon issued a warning to American citizens on Saturday to leave the country ahead of possible “emergency situations.”
The security alert recommended U.S. citizens in Lebanon make plans to leave or prepare to “shelter in place for an extended period of time.” The alert comes as the country anticipates a retaliation effort from Israel following a missile attack from Lebanese-based Hezbollah terrorists that killed 12 children on July 27.
“We encourage those who wish to depart Lebanon to book any ticket available to them, even if that flight does not depart immediately or does not follow their first-choice route,” the embassy alert reads. “We recommend that U.S. citizens who choose not to depart Lebanon prepare contingency plans for emergency situations and be prepared to shelter in place for an extended period of time.”
Several airlines have suspended or canceled flights to the country, however commercial options are still available, according to the alert.
“We recommend U.S. citizens develop a crisis plan of action and leave before a crisis begins,” Rena Bitter, U.S. assistant secretary of state for the bureau of consular affairs, said in a video posted to the U.S. Embassy in Beirut X account on July 29.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have risen in recent months since Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which left at least 1,200 dead. Hezbollah has reportedly backed Hamas and its Lebanese strongholds border Israel.
They’re saying nothing about the UK.
I’d advise getting out of the UK. It looks like Civil War is breaking out there. If that happens it will spread into most of Europe as well.
Any American who stays in Lebanon after being told to leave by any means possible is there at their own risk.
In other words, “ You’re on your own.”
At least they have a chance unlike the U.S. Embassy criminal takeover in Tehran in 1979, they held 52 Americans hostage for over 444 days. Carried out garbage in an American flag in front of news cameras. Hostages mistreated and terrorized.
And worse, the overrun of Afghanistan and the deaths from total mishandling by the Biden Administration.
APPARENTLY—THE TERRORIST bombed last week was the mastermind of the BERUIT Bombing of the Marine Barracks in Oct 1983.
HE lived 40+++ years longer than the 241 Marines he killed.
Nothing like giving Hezbollah a heads up.
Another case of only the good die young.
Scumbags have Satan watching over them.
Sounds just like Ukraine.
Sometimes I wonder if God is being merciful when people who are so evil get to live seemingly long and prosperous lives without worry of consequence. It’s as if God is giving them time to repent and turn toward Him. If they don’t, and die in their unforgiven sins, it can’t be said that God didn’t play fair.
The terrorist, fuoad Shakr who was killed last week in Beirut was not the “mastermind” of that attack. He was one of many that were involved in it as were a few dozen others. He was still very young then as was hezbollah.
The real mastermind of that attack may never be fully known but Imad Mugniyeh, who was killed in damascus in 2008 is often viewed as being heavily involved hence why it is believed that his assassination was a joint mossad/cia operation.
I’ve been troubled by that important unsolved question of organized religion for decades. In the section on “theodicy” (nature of God) in Robert Ringer’s Getting What You Want: The 7 Principles of Rational Living (published 2000),
he cites philosophers: 1)God is all powerful 2) God is all good 3) Terrible things happen.
Discussion shows all three can’t co-exist. Such as, a tiny child gets a painful mortal illness and prayers are answered “no” about the child being cured. Is God strong enough to save the child? Wouldn’t it be “good” to do that? What kind of “lesson” are we supposed to learn to “make this into a greater good.” To learn how to console others? We don’t know. We still know God had given us great blessings in other ways.
Ringer said another explanation is “God knows there is evil in this world but does not choose to stop it for reasons that are beyond our understanding. In other words God alone knows why He does what He does.” p.231.
I’ve heard and read attempts by Christians, rabbis, Hindus and other to answer the questions and know these people are genuinely unpset and perplexed but they try to get past it.
I still believe we cannot understand God’s ways with our limited minds and His enormously great mind.
That’s what I was thinking.
Probably true.
God does know the beginning from the end, and so far, no one has yet come up with an adequate answer to why He allows evil and suffering in this world, but that one.
That He has a plan and is working it out.
The only thing we can take consolation in is that some day justice will be done.
But that doesn’t always help much when we’re in the midst of pain and suffering.
Coming here also.
IDF has to clean out the enemy at least up to the natural border of the Litani River.
and there will be damage further up the coast.
USA citizens in Lebanon need to get the H out of that terrorist cesspool while they can.
They’re being given this chance they should definitely take it for their own safety.
They got the heads up when the destroyers and air craft carriers were dispatched. We may also have specific intel coming in from Israel, Iran or other sources. This announcement may be a head fake, hoping to persuade Hezbullah to chill out.
Well thought out post.
Have to agree “someday justice will be done.”
Good people and innocent ones will be rewarded.
