Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said a short-range projectile was behind the killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh and accused the United States of supporting the attack which it blamed on Israel, state TV reported Saturday.
The televised statement, which reiterated a call for retaliation, said a rocket with a seven-kilogram (about 15-pound) warhead was used to target the residence of Hamas' political leader in the capital Tehran on Wednesday, adding it caused heavy devastation. It didn't share details of the residence's location.
“The action was designed and carried out by the Zionist regime and supported by the U.S.,” said the Guard's statement. It added that “the warmongering and terrorist Zionist regime will receive harsh punishment in the suitable time, place, and capacity.”

1: It was a missile launched from 300 miles away.
2: It was a bomb planted in his room.
Delivered to downtown Tehran by an F-35 they never saw coming or going.
There had to be some sort of terminal guidance. Maybe an illuminator of the F-35, which would significantly degrade its stealthiness.
Is that the women’s section of the building with a veil over it?
Darn. And I was going to vacation there this fall, too.
Ground based handheld laser designator— by a very brave individual if this was so.
No- the Iranians as always deflect their incompetence. The building and location were protected by IGRC, and before Raisi was killed they had been infiltrated (long before) and a moveable RF detonator bomb concealed. The entire house staff and the guard have no doubt been tortured to death— so the Iranians know what they know, and cannot publicly admit. There is a very large anti-mullah resistance- who lives in constant fear of exposure and death. Khamenai’s days are numbered. The new president is trying to reach out to, of all things, Christian Iranians. Haniyeh was to have been taken out by Raisi’s funeral.
I said on a post yesterday that there are any number of Marko Ramius and Admiral Canaris in Iran today. The people despise the regime.
Yep, more explanations appearing every day. Short range projectile sounds like an RPG or similar weapon.
Same odd syntax and unnatural word choice you see in most Iranian sabre-rattling.
How is it they could determine the exact weight of the warhead (which no longer exists) but not the name of the missile carrying it (which itself is scattered over 40 acres)?
“Delivered to downtown Tehran by an F-35 they never saw coming or going.”
Nope. Israel wouldn’t chance a irreplaceable F35 on such a mission.
With such a small warhead, it’s likely to have been an RPG or some sort of ATGM with a thermobaric warhead.
“There had to be some sort of terminal guidance. Maybe an illuminator of the F-35, which would significantly degrade its stealthiness.”
Not an F-35.
The F-35 BTW, has the capability of illuminating a target without compromising it’s stealth.
Explosive mint on the pillow.
Probably an ATGM such as the Russian designed 9M133F-3 Kornet-M/Kornet-EM (AT- 14 Spriggan) which can come with a 7kg (15 pound) blast/fragmentation warhead for anti-personnel use.
They also have 9M133F-1 (Kornet/Kornet-E) 9M133F-2 (Kornet-M/Kornet-EM) which have thermobaric warheads which have a 7-10kg TNT equivalent. These have a range of up to 10km with laser beam riding Semi-automatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) guidance.
Iran also uses the Russian designed 9K115-2 Metis-M (AT-15 Saxhorn) which also has thermobaric warheads, and offer an 2km range with wire SACLOS guidance.
