In a recent post, I have received criticism for posting live html links. The reason I was told was that a live link can be affixed with a deceptive text label leading the receiver to believe that he/she/it/they are hyperlinking to the misleading text location when they are in fact hyperlinking to a so-called “malicious” website. To some degree, FR controls how the editing is performed (converting text hyperlinks into real hyperlinks at the final post stage, with the exception of the initial post in the thread). (Complicated, yes?)
I was told that some experts advise never to select live hyperlinks from untrusted (unverified) parties, with the implication being that I could be regarded as an untrusted/unverified party by any other interested FR reader.
So, it seems, at least to some degree, I am d*mned if I do and d*amned if I don’t. And sometimes, both.
I have been considering what to do, but I have not arrived at any conclusions yet. Meanwhile, I am continuing to use FR in the default manner.
I have added the admin moderator as a recipient so that your concern will (hopefully) be heard by FR.
I do not recall ever experiencing a significant problem with hyperlinks either way. However, I have some background in the industry, so I am not overly intimidated by these concerns. However, I cannot speak for anyone else, perhaps such as a typical user.

Here is the dash cam video reported to be the shooting suspect, clear as day. As we roll the video, you can see him walking casually into the event. Up close, it looks like he’s walking right in front of the AGR sign and up the hill.
Let’s take a look at where that was in relation to the rally. The rally was taking place here, and the witness was driving right here with his car. The shooter was seen right here walking in front of the AGR sign. The Brinkles Farms Greenhouses are across the street, just like we saw in the video, and he was walking right by the AGR sign.
We don’t know what time of day this was, but it must have been well in advance of the rally starting because this witness had parked, taken their video, and ended up way up here along the fence line. Along with other witnesses, they got that shaky video when they saw the shooter up on the roof. This same witness is the one who shot that now famous video with the photograph of the shooter turning the gun towards the crowd just before he got shot by the Secret Service sniper.
The gunman’s face looked directly at them, which is significant because people are now saying, so I’m going to talk about this shot number six that we think the police officer shot at the shooter. This shot caused him just enough distraction to look up at the crowd until the Secret Service sniper was able to take him out.
Here’s something I bet you didn’t know: Dave Stewart, the guy who shot that famous video of the cops searching for the shooter, is the same person running across the grass in a red shirt. Many thought he must be in on it or know something because he was running to safety. However, he identified himself and is actually Dave Stewart, the guy who shot that now famous video of the police engaging the shooter at the bottom of the parking lot.

So he was running behind the tree because he knew the cops were right on top of this guy. Dave has said in another video that he’s an employee of the Sheets convenience store, which is a couple of blocks away. He had come over to video the whole event.
Here’s the crux of it: earlier in the week, The Washington Post posted a story saying that Richard Goldinger, the district attorney for Butler County, confirmed that a member of the County’s Emergency Services Unit (similar to a SWAT team) fired a shot at Crooks that prompted a reaction from the gunman. This officer’s shot caused Crooks to stop firing his weapon, buying the Secret Service snipers time to kill the gunman about 10 seconds later.
Another person familiar with the investigation confirmed that the Butler officer shot at Crooks before the Secret Service counter sniper fired. This fills in the blanks for us because I initially thought the Secret Service had fired two shots. The officer’s shot was suppressed, so it didn’t sound the same as the others.
I made a slide to visualize what is happening. The first three shots are from the bad guy, followed by a second burst of five shots. The next shot, almost immediately after, came from the ESU SWAT team. The Secret Service Hercules 1 counter sniper fired the final neutralizing shot about 10 seconds later, taking down the shooter.
This video shows the Secret Service Hercules sniper team on top of the red barn about 30 minutes before the shooting. They seem casual, not overly concerned. Several minutes later, around 5:56 p.m., about 15 minutes before the shooting, they are looking towards the crowd. The Butler County officers are by the tent, one of whom likely made the shot that caused the shooter to stop and point his gun at the crowd.
We have millions of people in our country who shouldn’t be here. We have people right here, right on the roof. Thirty seconds later, the shooting starts.

Dave Stewart’s audio was crystal clear on all the shots. The shooter’s first three shots sounded exactly like the second five shots. Stewart’s video confirms the shots sounded the same, and the police officer’s shot got the shooter’s attention, leading to the Secret Service sniper taking him down.
This report, released about a week ago, is from the Beaver County SWAT teams’ postmortem. The Butler command provided materials showing police snipers’ positions. The Washington County SWAT team was positioned in another building, with Hazmat and more County Police on standby.
The timeline shows the suspect was first observed at 1710, walking by a window. The officer who spotted him provided a photograph with the picnic table circled in red and the door he exited circled in purple.
At 1732, they took a picture of a bike by a tree with a backpack. It’s still unclear if it was his bike. The police later confirmed the bike wasn’t his. The timeline shows the suspect looking at his phone and a sniper texting the Butler team about the subject.
At 6:00, they lost sight of the suspect and were unsure of his direction. By 1805, he was seen at picnic tables moving toward Sheets with a backpack. The suspect was at picnic tables noted by someone peeking out a window, moving in the direction of Sheets.
Between 1806 and 1811, uniformed patrol cars started moving in. At 1812, shots rang out. Dave Stewart filmed from along the chain link fence.

He’s got a sat image of the Butler site, and around 16:30 comments on Sheetz: “it looks pretty big.” The typical Sheetz, most of the sq footage is the pumps. The “store” is actually pretty small.
As “proof” goes, I’ve seen more convincing videos of the Loch Ness Monster.
