The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed it destroyed several U.S.-made Patriot air defense system launchers in one day amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Russian forces hit three launchers of the U.S. Patriot air defense system on Thursday, 1 August, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry.
Russia used a combination of drones, artillery, and ground troops to target the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
Moscow also claimed to have shot down 14 rocket launchers manufactured by the United States and one MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System.

The Russians fly with impunity over Ukraine. The fact that the Ukes are constantly begging for more replacement Patriots as the Russians continually take the ones received out. Those facts place the BS in your corner.

Several things; we have yet to see any conclusive BDA (that is Battle Damage Assessment for the uninitiated) imagery of any of these "destroyed" launchers and . We have seen verifiable fake images from the Russian side of destroyed Patriots, and it was admitted that one radar and one launcher had been damaged. Both were back in action in several days, though. I not a fan of any side in this war. One thing I will give the Ukrainians though, is that they provide a ton of BDA to back up their claims; even if they are overstated at times. Where's conclusive proof of wide spread destruction on Patriot batteries?
Next, you can not cover a country the size of Ukraine with limited resources, which the Patriot batteries are. So, you consolidate them around the most important targets. This leaves wide swaths that are covered by less effective systems, or not at all. Yes, the Russian fly with near impunity in a lot of places. They have had a TON of aircraft, missiles and drones shot down. There are areas, though, where the Russian won't even send their aircraft, fly, because they WILL be shot down. Why do you think they shoot drones and missiles at Kiev, instead of taking the Patriot batteries there head on with their Air Force?
Lastly, they are asking for replacement missiles, because they are shooting them off almost faster then they are being supplied with them. They want more systems, not because they are being destroyed, but rather they want to be able to cover MORE area with what is arguably the best land based anti-air system in the world (even the older models given to Ukraine at US taxpayer expense).
Like I said, I am not a fan or any side (Uke, Russia, or US/NATO) in the war. Making false claims that are easily debunked, though, will get me to speak up.
This is like the third time Russia has destroyed 150 percent of Ukraine’s air defense capability.

July is here. Ukraine predicted Russia would have drone production in July which happened. The Russia MOD announced that they were producing 4000 drones a day, three different versions, some with interchangable munitions for different targets, some with night vision, some simply for aerial observation all in the same class. These are not simply your commercial small drones dropping a 155mm shell, but an advanced version based on the Iranian drones. These big boys can fly for 3-6 hours, travel hundredss of kilometers, and return to base or hit their targets.
Of course they hit three HIMARS a few days ago. A week before that they took out an entire battalion worth of them before they could ever be deployed along with all the support technicians at the depot level.
Russia has taken out nearly every radar provided by NATO almost as fast they deployed to the front lines. Ukraine turns on the radars, and within 5 minutes an Iskander missile can be on the way.
For all the naysayers who support Ukraine, the fact that Russia is now taking land points out clearly that the Ukrainian soldiers are killed and cannot be replaced to stop the Russian. Because so many people have been led to believe that land is the measure of success in war, they have failed to grasp that Ukraine is being demilitarized and the pace is increasing.
A month from now, Ukraine will have no more heavily fortified positions to slow the Russian assualts. There will a massive change on the maps. From the Donbas region, once they breach the next settlement in the area, there is nothing to stop Russia until they reach Kiev.
July was the month in which the West realized they had lost the war against Russia. Now the West is looking for the next conflict. On to Iran! On to China!
Russia could not fly a plane anywhere near the border with Ukraine in 2022-2023. Russia engaged in a protracted campaign to destroy every layer of the Ukrainian integrated air defense. Now Ukraine has trouble simply providing ADA near the front lines and has been mostly relegated to defending 5% of the country, mostly airbases, Kiev, etc. Even those ADAs are being targeted.
If you put the Russian MOD and the Ukrainian MOD side by side and what is reported in the West, all the fact come from Ukraine.
Kinda like Zelinski claiming back in Janaury that Ukraine had only lost 31,000 KIAs in the entire war.... August 2024 marks the point where Ukraine is approaching 800,000 KIA and 1.4 WIA.
Missiles, artillery and FABs have done most of the killing. Russia just rolled out a mobile land based Iskander missile system and will no longer solely rely on naval or aviation assets to fire these game changers.
If Ukraine still had 50% of the patriots, they would be using them; that they are not using them simply means they being held in the rear to defend high priority sites and not on the battlefield.

Attrition. Our Patriot systems are not perfect. They are less than 100% in Israel and a percentage are not shot down and hit their targets.
Count the number of FABs per day. Look at their locations. All were delivered WITH IMPUNITY by Russian aircraft. Thousands of sorties a month, zero Uke defense splashes of Russian jets. That computer you’re using has a dictionary. Look up the definition of “with impunity”. There, you have improved your vocabulary today. No charge.
