Nolte: New York Times Lies About Hollywood Catering to Red State Conservatives
Breitbart ^ | 07/29/2024 | John Nolte

Never have I read an article based on such a false premise as this one from the far-left New York Times over the weekend: “Hollywood’s Message to Red States: Our Movies Are for You.”

“For nearly two decades, Hollywood has seemingly missed no opportunity to sound the alarm about climate change,” reports the Times. “So it was startling when the weather-focused Twisters arrived from Universal Pictures this month with no mention of climate change at all.” More…

Trend spotting in cinema is a hazardous pursuit. Sometimes a movie is just a movie. “Twisters,” however, is emblematic of a clear shift in Hollywood: After a period of openly using movies to display progressive values, sometimes with success at the box office (“Barbie”) and often not (“Strange World,” “The Marvels,” “The Color Purple,” “Dark Waters”), studios seem to be heeding a message that many ticket buyers — especially in the center of the country — have been sending for a long time: We just want to be entertained, no homework attached.

And then comes the lie: “Put bluntly, it amounts to an attempt by Hollywood to bend to red-state audiences.”

What in the hell are they talking about?

"Gaslighting" is correct. This tall tale is on the order of "the Conservative media" for sheer risibility. In fact, as the author points out, nobody much is going to these Woke-fests, not even the people who might be expected to. Disney in particular is hemorrhaging money at flood rates and has amazingly managed to murder the golden geese that were Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the original Disney legacy of animated features. That's actually pretty hard to accomplish.

The bland, tendentious fare that is the New Normal is punctuated by certain successes that manage to swim against the current of sewage. Woke turns out to be an alternative to success, not a feature of it, with Hollywood choosing Woke. What results is the cinematic equivalent of Soviet literature.

It’s not even vaguely plausible.

That, sir, is very well-written. Kudos!

Amazon (of all places) has updated their streaming videos that include endless Soviet era movies. Lots of war movies too. The propaganda is JV compared to what Hollywood and the DNC produce today.

The movies are enjoyable though. Very fun watching them with the history of what happened to the Soviets.
