A Fresno small restaurant owner says he has had enough after his PG&E bill was nearly double his rent.
Manuel Perales, the owner of Yosemite Falls Cafe says his June utility bill was nearly $21,000. His rent? $10,000.
“How do you pay that bill?" he said.
He says it doesn't make sense to receive that astronomical bill even during the hottest months of the year.
He's not the only one outraged with the increase of PG&E bills.
He shares that one of his servers told him her monthly bill was $1,000.
"This is a young lady with two kids. She goes, you know, we can't afford that," he said.
Daisy Saldana, a server at Yosemite Falls Cafe says, her bill last month was around $700.
"It has been hot but that is a little too extreme, $700," she said.
For May, her bill was at $400.
Luckily, she says she splits it with three roommates, or else it would be her whole paycheck going towards the electricity bill.
For Yosemite Falls Customers, it's the same story.
Dale Manasco said, "It's ridiculously high and especially when you're on a set income. I don't have the best-paying job and what I make, seems like it's going to the PG&E bill."
Other customers who overheard a FOX26 News crew speaking to Perales say, they couldn't believe his utility bill was double his rent to keep his business running.
That, on top of inflation and minimum wage recently going up.

Much of the money is to pay for state pensions. I am sure the democrats siphon off the money for other projects unrelated to fixing the electric utility.

Anyone backing electric vehicles is an idiot since this sort of liberal and monopolistic electricity pricing model was easily forecast by many of us years ago.
SoCal Edison’s bill is broken into two parts - energy delivery (where medical/low income discounts are applied) and energy generation (where no discounts are applied, effectively wiping out the delivery discount). Tier Two bills at a rate of $0.42/kWh for winter use. The domestic ‘first tier’ allowance is 251kWh; medical allowance is 957kWh.
From our May house bill:
948kWh x $0.17420 = $165.15 - Tier One Delivery Charge with Medical allowance, Winter
948kWh x $0.14921 = $141.45 - Tier One Generation Charge, Winter
Commercial rates for our barn: (1 fridge, 1 deepfreeze, 1 exterior, 1 interior light)
Max threshold demand 20kWh
Super Off peak = 18kWh x $0.17444
Off peak = 55kWh x $0.25273
Mid peak = 30kWh x $0.39400
We have propane, but it’s over $3/gal delivered so generators are out. Even with led lights in every room our house bill exceeds $300/mo in the winter and at least double that in the summer as a/c pushes us into Tier 2 and 3.

I’ve left my Florida house the same way, with “static” charges (”consumer fee”) exceeding $60 for water and $50 for electricity.

They recently passed a law refusing drivers licenses to Illegals, but did a “work-around” to obfuscate the law.
Previously, Latinx could buy a Massachusetts DL for a few thousand $ from DMV “fellow” sources.

Well, maybe y’all just need some more democrats in your government... Surely Just a few more will fix the problem.
I think California should shutter more power plants, mandate everyone drive electric cars, and only rely on wind and solar. That should fix the problem in no time.

Yes. Around here the utility company pays to mail out a monthly shaming letter to compare your usage with others in the neighborhood. They they tell you to go paperless.

And you are saying you incurred all those charges only because they “forced” you into a TIME OF USE plan?

My utility believes I used only 212 kWh in July, but the truth is I used 2,651 kWh. They believe I used only 27 kWh in June, but I really used 2,185 kWh.
However, before you go solar like I did you have to do lots of homework to make sure it's worth it, that you live in a good place for it, that you don't sell power to the grid unless the regulations are in your favor, etc.

We did a solar estimate out of curiosity one time. We live in Upstate New York and we use lots of electricity. I have a very large hot tub and a lot of electronic equipment including a network area storage Synology unit and many security cams as well as computers. I’m in my mid-60s and my husband is in his mid-50s. I think it would take about 40 years to get it paid off.

I didn’t notice that you were new to our discussion of Time of Use rates ...
Here in Alabama, not only do we get a lot more sun, but also, our energy consumption is a lot higher in the summer during the day (running the A/C), which is when we get even more sun.
