The world recorded its hottest ever day, as many parts of the Mediterranean face extreme wildfire risks.
Sunday witnessed the highest average temperature on Earth, breaching a previous record set a year ago, according to provisional data from the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service.
Global average temperatures have already hit or exceeded a key climate threshold for 12 months, highlighting the challenge in limiting global warming to below 1.5C above the pre-industrial era. Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of heat waves, bringing extreme weather events from flooding to wildfires.
Extreme heat has wreaked havoc across many parts of the global economy already this year, disrupting air travel to power grids.
The average temperature for the year through June 2024 was 1.64C higher than the era from 1850 to 1900, according to Copernicus. Last month was the hottest ever June, the 13th consecutive time a month has set a new average temperature record.

LIES.
“I drove around the other day looking for EV’s in my 06 H2 Hummer and didn’t see one I liked.”
My F150’s gas gauge is just under 1/4 tank. I have 187 miles of range left. I like that.
As before R.E.C.O.R.D.E.D. Pretty certain it wasn’t the hottest ever. Man do carry a load of contempt for these assclowns.
Just remember what AlGore said….

I’m not sure it’s proper to say “Earth” has a climate, or, if it does, that there is a reliable and consistent way to measure it for comparative purposes with previous epochs.
The planet has lots of climates, and it’s reasonable to believe that they have effects on each other. For example, when the Sahara became a desert, it had a knock-on effect in Arabia. When the ice sheets melted, it flooded Southeast Asia.
But all these REGIONAL climates are constantly changing. The Domesday book in 1086 AD recorded wine vinyards in Scotland, where it is still too cold today to grow grapes.
To unify all these regional climates into a single PLANETARY “climate”, and then to claim you can measure it and predict its future based on a single input (human generated carbon dioxide) is going way beyond what “climate science” could possibly deliver.
If the sun didn’t explode...STFU
it was rather cool here in the mid US. OK, Ark, Mo, Kansas. Temps so low I had to but an extra blanket on the bed at nights.
Tulsa OK, 1939 July 21 record temps
July 21 109 1939
When Al Gore got back home in his Chevy Suburban he turned up the home air conditioner and pushed it to the limit.
Considering that it’s the middle of summer, yeah, it’s hot.
What? You get 748 miles on one tank?
Yes it was! I totally died and am posting from heaven. Come on in everyone....the view is glorious!
Freaking aholes just don’t stop
GOOD GRIEF!! This COULD NOT BE THE HOTTEST EVER ON EARTH!! HOW STUPID!!!
It was not that bad. Rather nice in Michigan
Probably.

Spent 2 lovely weeks there.
Nothing but fun in the sun!
“June 2024 was 1.64C higher than the era from 1850 to 1900”
“There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.” That is a meaningless bit of data. I can say, “More people watched MASH in 1979 than the era between 1832 and 1908.” Sign my name as a PhD and the poliscientific community would conclude it is because racism or something and the only fix is more government.
Does that include the heat in the oceans?
I don’t want to live in a glacial period.
Shoveling a mile of ice off my roof would be back breaking.
