After the demise of Roe, abortion advocates channeled Chicken Little, claiming the sky would fall on pro-life candidates because outraged voters will elect their pro-abortion opponents.
Pro-Abortion Candidates are Losing
The media touted a State Supreme Court race in Georgia as a bellwether of races to come. Former pro-abortion Democrat Congressman John Barrow ran against incumbent Justice Andrew Pinson because as solicitor general he successfully defended the Heartbeat law.
Barrow centered his entire campaign on abortion. Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion lobby groups endorsed him. Barrow lost by ten percentage points.
During West Virginia’s primary, eighty-seven percent of the candidates endorsed by a pro-life political action committee won. The balance of the State Supreme Court moved from a bare margin in favor of life to four to one support for life. Wanda Fraz, president of the PAC said voters support candidates who reflect their values regarding the dignity of human life. She’s right.
Similar victories resulted in South Carolina’s primary. Three state Senators who shared extreme stands on abortion were defeated by pro-life male challengers, one winning with over 80% of the vote. The pro-abortion incumbents lost in spite of an infusion of over $350,000 on their behalf.
Legacy Media On Notice
CNN reporter Harry Enten said he is “speechless.” What ruffled his feathers? Multiple polls show Donald Trump is getting more support from Black Americans, especially young Black voters. Biden’s support from these young voters is cratering.
Enten said “I’ve just never seen anything like this. I’m like speechless. I keep looking for signs that this is going to go back to normal and I don’t see it yet in the polling.” He added, “We’re careening towards historic performance for a Republican presidential candidate, the likes of which we have not seen in six decades.”
Advocates of abortion have warned that pro-life candidates would lose due to the wrath of women voters after the demise of Roe. The New York Times, a leading pro-abortion advocate now understands this is merely political hyperbole.
It analyzed over 30 polls that when averaged, showed Joe Biden’s lead with women is down by about 13% from four years earlier. The Times reported that this erosion of support “has been particularly pronounced among Black and Hipanic women.” According to a Harvard-Harris poll, 75% of women support limits on abortion after 15 weeks.
Democrat Politicians Fleeing the Party
Nebraska State Senator Mike McDonnell was censored by his own party for being a pro-life Christian. The Democrat of forty years said, “Douglas County Democrats instead of respecting [his position], they decided to punish it.” These officials could use some mentoring on how to be tolerant and inclusive. McDonnell’s move gives Republicans a veto-proof majority in the single legislative chamber.
Former Democrat Eric Johnson, mayor of Dallas, Texas explained that his deeply held Christian faith was central to his decision to join the Republican Party. Mayor Johnson, a black man, said, “You sort of inherit the Democratic Party as a cultural heirloom when you’re African American. It sort of gets handed to you as part of who you are.” Which demonstrates Eric’s decision was not made lightly.
Louisiana State Rep. Jeremy LaCombe joined Rep. Francis Thompson in leaving the Democrat Party. Thompson’s switch resulted in a supermajority for Republicans.
North Carolina State Rep. Tricia Cotham’s defection also gave Republicans a supermajority.
A growing number of elected politicians who’ve fled the Party say its stand on abortion until birth is a bridge too far for many who like Mayor Johnson are not willing to shelve their faith for political gain.
A recent poll shows young American voters do not support unrestrained abortion. 65% of what is called the Youth Vote support significant limits on abortion. And nearly all of them oppose abortion until birth.
When Americans get past the political slogans and into the heart of the matter – particularly the Youth Vote – a strong majority want to see the unborn protected.
Pro-life candidates have a clear path to victory. They must show voters how extreme their opponents truly are.
Was in Phoenix for a while last week and every single TV commercial for a Dem candidate for any office was all Abortion! Abortion! Abortion!
Pro abortion these days means pro abortion at the time of delivery, a practice abhorrent to all sentient beings.
Here is my 2 cents.
In 2022 Republicans way underperformed expectations.
This was blamed on the Supreme Court’s overturning of Rowe vs Wade.
The reality is that the Democrats used voter fraud without pushback so they cheated but blamed their opponent’s failure on the abortion issue.
I don't know. In the few states which had referenda or legislation on the issue, the pro-aborts have come out ahead, many times by popular consensus. Some of these states which formerly had fairly restrictive pre-Dobbs laws now have NO restrictions on abortion (Ohio). They're working on several others with some prospect of success.
Unfortunately, society has been inured to abortion to the point that it's deemed a "civil right" by many who were not alive prior to or within the historical vicinity of Roe, notwithstanding any Court decision. If Roe had been overturned promptly after it was decided by another Court decision or an amendment, it would have been a different story.
The right to kill babies?? That's what the Suffragettes brought us.
No smoking...no drinking...but it's okay to kill babies. No sense at all.
I respect your opinion however this is not the case.
We ARE winning on DIE, WOKE and America First.
Abortion is going to take much much longer.
Even some Freepers say any degree of being pro-life must be stamped out.
How can gay marriage be a federal issue but abortion isn’t? And the Democrats have said they will pass federal law.
Abortion is all that Democrats have to run on. Even the Kamala Harris ad attacks Trump by saying that he will sign a national ban on abortion.
By doing this, Democrats assume that voters are too stupid to understand that the Supreme Court said that abortion is not a federal issue. Unfortunately for Democrats, Democrats cannot win with only women voters, anyway. They lost the men with DEI.
The one with the husband and wife where she’s talking about a pregnancy that wasn’t viable, the wife looks and acts evil.
Not sure Gay marriage is in fact a Federal Issue. I don't see how it can be.
We didn’t under perform in 2022. The problem was red areas got redder big time. We won the popular vote by almost 5 points, but the votes were not spred out enough.
Well, whether it should be or not, it’s now seen as a federal issue, and no one is out there disputing it. The GOP never lifted a finger.
I thought one of the major policy points the Suffragettes were in favor of was banning abortions. Unless you’re speaking of our modern-day suffragettes who populate college campuses, NGOs and corporate climbing ladders.
The abortion issue reminds me of the slavery issue in the early 19th century. I could never understand how the pro-slavers couldn’t see their own hypocrisy, attending church on Sundays while “owning” other human beings and forcing them to labor under some of the worst conditions imaginable (not to mention using the black women as their sex playthings.) In the same way, how can “women” who almost universally make such a fuss over new infants, blithely declare that a baby about to be born can be murdered in calculating, cold blood. Abortion clinics are the new “High Places” so despised by God in the Old Testament.
I fortunately seem to have missed that one.
