It was not undemocratic for the Democrats to dump Joe Biden
MSN ^ | 7/22/2024 | Andrew Prokop

ot long after President Joe Biden announced he was stepping aside from the presidential race Sunday, pro-Trump social media influencers had settled on one line of attack: that Democrats had carried out a coup against their own president. [snip]

From people who support Donald Trump, the man who tried to steal the 2020 election, this is obviously a ridiculous and absurd thing to say. Yet it echoes a self-interested argument made by Biden himself just two weeks ago, when he argued that him dropping out would be tantamount to ignoring democracy. “The voters — and the voters alone — decide the nominee of the Democratic Party,” Biden wrote in a July 8 letter. “Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well intentioned.”

What’s unfolded in the two weeks since has been a steadily intensifying pressure campaign from various members of the press, pundits, donors, and current and former elected officials aimed at making Biden quit. Some of these entreaties were made in private — and, when Biden didn’t appear to be listening, more spilled out into public view. They argued that he couldn’t win and, eventually, he listened.

There may arguably be something a bit uncomfortable about the role of Democratic power brokers and donors in pushing Biden aside after his primary win. But while they’re doing this without voters’ explicit say, they’re doing so in an attempt to (belatedly) respond to voters’ beliefs that Biden is too old to serve another term.

So it may be undemocratic in practice, but in a sense it’s democratic in intention. Because the party isn’t avoiding an election, they’re trying to win one, by picking a nominee who (they hope) can win more people’s votes.

Needs to a major part of RNC campaign:

“The voters — and the voters alone — decide the nominee of the Democratic Party,” Biden wrote in a July 8 letter.

Translation - DNC: "Screw the voters!"

“The voters — and the voters alone — decide the nominee of the Democratic Party,” Biden wrote in a July 8 letter.

That’s the illusion they sell. Actually, it’s the dem’s politburo that decides who runs. For them, it’s about nothing but winning. If the dems fall too far and are pushed too far away from the Public Trough, they cannot survive. They don’t have a clue about how to create wealth, they only know how to transfer the wealth others create to themselves.

An excellent example of gaslighting.

14 million idiots voted for Creepy Joe. But, they will never comprehend that they have just been disenfranchised. They will drone on.

Biden did not even sign his resignation letter. Is that undemocratic?

It is scary that canceling the will of millions of primary voters can be be done unofficially and by anybody at anytime after they voted. Are we living in America?

See this video as it explains exactly why Biden did not sign the resignation letter. The signature is not even close to his.

A few rich donors by cutting off money blocked the current Democratic President from getting reelected.

“I know I’m not a young man, I don’t walk as easy or speak as smoothly or debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong and I know how to do this job.”

Nope, it’s undemocratic, your voters spoke.

Democrats simply cannot “trust” their voters to make the proper selection for their nominee. This decision is best left to professional insiders who have access to pollsters who can inform them who to run, it’s not up to the people, it’s up to party bosses and mega donors.

In one corner we have 14 million voters.

In the opposing corner we have about a dozen rich white guys

....

And the winners are - the rich white guys, as usual.

The premise of this article is that Jie Biden announced he was stepping aside.

He made no announcement.

A letter appeared on Twitter. That is all so far. The President of the United Stated has not announced anything.

At least LBJ appeared on TV and said he would not run. Nothing from FJB.
