Democratic strategist David Axelrod said early Friday morning that former President Trump’s speech at the Republican National Committee (RNC) was “the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in three weeks.”
“People, I’m sure, responded very positively to his appeals to unity that were written on the teleprompter, and then he just ripped the bejesus out of everybody… all his political enemies and so on,” Axelrod, also a former Obama adviser said on CNN.
“I have to tell you… Chris Wallace said this,” Axelrod said. “This is the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.”
Axelrod said Trump’s speech “really reminded everyone why Donald Trump is fundamentally unpopular outside this room.”
Trump formally accepted his party’s presidential nomination Thursday via a long and rambling speech. It went over an hour and a half, resulting in it being the longest acceptance speech by a major party candidate

Fixed it.
That!
Exaggeration by Axelrod. The speech was too long and that’s about it.
Tone was restrained.
He’s making the Talking Points Memo to Lying MSM call ... this old hack is still using the old Alinsky Projection model.
Sorry, Axe, it’s no longer working. You can put your gaslighter down, now.
After everything President Trump has been through, he earned the right to be up there for as long as he needed.
Thisnis nonsense. They think unity means capitulation to their will. They are trying to unify with Biden as we speak. They complain that Trump referenced the weaponization of the justice department. To them, he should shut up and goto jail. That’s unity to them. They want him to campaign for Crooked Joe then they’ll say the speech was unifying. Ask them, what dor Democrats have to do during the unification process. Trump went a little long for my liking for the occasion and he called Nancy, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, i think he should have side stepped that yesterday because it’s too easy for them to target it.
Thanks for playing, Dave. You’re out.
He called her Crazy Nancy Pelosi. That’s the only attack that I felt should have been avoided.
I wish Trump had spent 90 minutes ripping pecker puss Pelosi to shreds. She’s got it coming.
Is Axelrod preparing the path for whomever is controlling the democrats by this “sweet talk” of his for them to turn to Hilliary as their nominee? Tried, tested and failed!
And he looked like he had hemorrhoids when he said it. The guy is a Democrat stooge who would have condemned anything Trump said.
Well he is a key player in the Demorats circle....he’s not going away any time soon and as ruthless as all the others.
Has anyone here given the thought the FJB resignation was a hoax? He stole a lot of the RNC headlines he confused Trump‘s team as far as who was going to be the presidential nominee for the dirty 🐀 . It was brilliantly played by every actor every mediavomit puke And now after the RNC is finished his team announces he’s sticking to the race. People wake up smell the coffee. Trump lost a big opportunity last night by not attacking FJB. They were successful in pulling the wool over the eyes of the Trump’s team. I just hope Trump didn’t throw a lifeline to the cadaver. We will see if Trump got a nice bump and can keep it for the rest of the summer and if cadaver Joe can make his poll numbers climb after their convention. I’ve always known that the closer you get to the election the tighter the numbers become. But I really believe this was a lost opportunity for Trump to hammer the cadaver and to have shorten his speech to one hour. This is my opinion of course so if you wanna flame me that’s fine.
Speaker phone on the other end.
This is Axelrod grasping at straws. Trump gave a fairly good speech. He rambled and it went too long but overall, it was good in the beginning and otherwise about what was to be expected.
The media is just angry that it got late enough to where people went to bed after the speech, instead of listening to their claptrap.
I’m Mr John Q Public. I listened to about 20 minutes of the speech. “Well,” I thought to myself, “Trump sure is subdued. The rest of this is boilerplate”, and I went to bed. I didn’t see what Axelrod saw, but that’s because I didn’t stay up late to watch it. And I love Trump.
Trump proved he did not have Sundowner’s.
I don't think Trump supporters care at this point; they think President Trump is unstoppable. I do think it would dismay Biden supporters who are being jerked around day after day with the drip drip drip of news.
I think what's really getting to the everyday Democrat voter is the Harris Problem. That's the classic "hoist with his own petard." Any attempt at psyops of the Trump team is going to just discourage Harris supporters even more than they are right now.

Given what he’s gone through, relief at seeing our familiar DJT (though with the typical volume turned down a bit) seems more appropriate, rather than disappointment. But, your mileage may vary. And apparently has.
