Secret Service Director Gives Bizarre Reason Why An Agent Wasn't On The Roof Where Gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks Opened Fire On Trump As She Rejects Calls To Resign
DAILY MAIL ^ | 07/16/24 | Geoff Earl

Embattled Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle has revealed the fateful reason why her agency failed to position an agent on top of the building that a gunman used to carry out an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

Cheatle, who is already facing calls to resign over what some lawmakers are calling a massive security failure, said Secret Service officials planning security for Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania considered the warehouse about 150 yards away from where Trump spoke to be a risky position for stationing an agent.

'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,' she told ABC News in an interview Tuesday.

'And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.'

What transpired instead was a security nightmare: Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to scale the building and secure his own position, while law enforcement struggled to locate him even amid pressing warnings from members of the Trump crowd. But there wasn't sufficient time to act on the tips, she explalined.

'The shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion,' Cheatle said. 'Unfortunately, with the rapid succession of how things unfolded, by the time that individual was eventually located, they were on the rooftop and were able to fire off at the former president.'

I read he bought a three foot ladder, but the one on the building was a large 8 foot or higher one

My first thought also, since I knew from previous pictures the counter snipers were at the peak of a pitched roof themselves

Explanation doesn't hold water!

To the contrary, it explains everything.

Especially the ladder.

The ladder could not be moved because the Job Safety Analysis paperwork for the Non Standard Work Process Evaluation docs for the Special Operating Procedures work up to move the ladder had not been approved in time to

You provide an excellent juxtaposition of pics, a perfect “Exhibit A” to prove she’s spouting nonsense. The roof where the shooter was has a slope very similar to the roof of my house, which is easily walkable. And the pitch on the roof where the police were is clearly steeper.

“””Just went to comment section of DM One of the comments was that Trump has had a rally there before and a
secret service sniper was stationed on that roof. Don’t know if it is true, but I’m really curious.”””

The prior Trump rally at Butler was at the Butler Airport.

I would also like to point out that if you look at satellite images of the entire site, the building the shooter used wasn’t the only one in range. Every building in that image was well within sniper range. Even the ones in front of the stage maybe 500 yards from Trump. With the right gun and scope a sniper could have taken out Trump from any building top within 2 miles.

They looked like a 1:12 pitch which is like walking up a slight hill. Tennis shoes would not slip. This is the double bird from the SS.

The more excuses they make, the more obvious it is that this was an inside job.

Cheatie needs to be charged and tried for manslaughter.

what a monster Cheater is!

I can't wait to hear her keynote speech at DemonRat Convention.

Uyghur, PLEASE!

Look at the pics in this article. The roof of the building where the SS Counter snipers were is twice as steep as what this one is. Like most DemonRatz she's used to telling THEIR Press any old BS and not being called on it. She, and whoever was in charge on the ground, should be FIRED.

If you submitted a screenplay were a sniper crawls on a roof of a buildng full of LEO and SS to take a shot at a ex-POTUS running for office it would be rejected out of hand as not believable, farcical.

This is “in your face” lying.

It's "Soviet Style Lying". We're lying. And you know we're lying. And we know you know we're lying.

And we lie anyway.

And you have to go along with it.

Because we can make you disappear.

Unless is was meant as a comedy, a mockery of incompetent police.

What I’m hearing from everybody who’s done security or been at previous Trump rallies or other political events with SS protection is that yes, all those buildings normally have snipers on them. And when somebody armed is located they shoot them down before they can take any shots. And if they haven’t neutralized the threat they stop the event from going forward until the threat is neutralized.

They also normally put up barriers to break up any line of sight, as much as possible. The standard area is 1000 yards, according to Dan Bongino. As you say, that wouldn’t eliminate the danger from a sniper a mile away (or more) so what you’re saying is very important; a bullet-proof plexiglass barrier should be utilized in the future. Though I don’t know if there are barriers strong enough to withstand a shot from a mile away. Or maybe I’m misunderstanding; a far shot would slow down more over time maybe.

But it is really, really clear that even the most basic of measures were not taken - only this particular time. They had 26 minutes to take out a known threat or at least keep Trump sheltered until they did take out the threat, and they did nothing. It’s as if they were only there for show, to pretend that there is security while allowing an assassin to have the very finest, choice position with no danger of being taken out.

This goes WAY, WAY beyond mere incompetence.

This woman should be arrested, tried and convicted for aiding and abetting 1)an assassination attempt. 2) murder.

Federal crimes still carry the death penalty, right?

Even without anybody guarding that roof by being on top of it, that space was guarded by the 2 snipers on the roof behind Trump AND by a sniper who was on the water tower even higher up, 488 yards from the shooter- which Erik Prince says is actually the person who ended up taking out the shooter after he fired. They could have taken out the guy any time within those 26 minutes that they knew he was up there and armed. They didn’t take him out until AFTER he fired shots. Why? This Cheatle needs to say if they were told not to take out the assassin and if so, why.
