Former President Donald Trump announced Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate on Monday.
The much-anticipated moment occurred just as Trump was being formally nominated as the Republican presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump announced on Truth Social:
After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond….

He’s a handsome man so maybe that’ll bring in some of the suburban women.
I surely hope that is correct.
Perhaps Vance has not been in the US senate long enough to become steeped in their go-along-to-get-along culture.
DITTO!
Excellent. He is the one the Deep State likes and trusts the least of all the candidates for Trump’s VP.
Pence was governor not a senator, governor is usually the best set up for president, so that didn’t work, maybe it doesn’t make difference anymore
We lose a Senate seat doing this. Can’t think of a single Senator that’s done the Republic one ounce of good in my lifetime.
He does have the only required credential.
No Swamp time. Senator since 2023 and no politics before that.
What’s the pool on how long it will take for the commie media to label him “Hillbilly Hitler “?
P
>> Not a fan of the choice and hope he turns out to be good
Funny, that’s exactly what I thought about Donald Trump in 2016. Now in 2024 I would jump concertina wire rope and crawl through broken glass to vote for him!
I believe J. D. Vance will start out just fine and develop into something even better, and I’m speaking that into his (and our) future.
He has four years to prove to us he’s not another Judas Pence.
I really like that he’s a Marine.
Since he’s written a book, he’ll undoubtedly put his own mark on the speechwriters’ work.
I especially love that he’s pushed by Musk, one of the breathtaking intellects alive today. Musk will put his money where it needs to go to support Trump choosing Vance.
And I’m hoping Trump coordinated with the Ohio Governor on who to replace Vance with.
As a scholar, Vance can come up to speed quickly.
As a family friend, he can stay in the inner circle conversations, which helps him be ready if he ever needs to take center stage. (May he not until 2028)
I’m not a jd Vance fan. I don’t trust that sob I hope he’s worth some votes
Yaaaawn
Pence was in Congress the early 2000s.
I think that’s an unfair assessment.
Wiki has to be taken with a grain of salt but their Vance entry has a lot of direct Vance quotes and information on his votes. Hopefully Trump or the GOP have enough leverage over DeWine to get a good replacement.

Vance was my pick before and reading his statement I am even more excited about him as VP.
A bright 8 year old could demolish kamala. While playing a video game at the same time,
Thanks for that correction - and to another poster, too. ANyway, I was sold on and then fooled by Pence.
That said, Vance is Trump’s MAGA man so he’s a good guy now and hoping he will remain so.
Trump is part of that generation that loves the Ivy League I’m so smart identity.
“He will completely disarticulate Kamala Harris in a debate. “
So could a slightly cleverer than average parrot, but then you knew that.
