Biden insists ‘we are not enemies’ as he addresses nation in brief Oval Office speech after Trump assassination attempt

President Biden urged the nation to unite in a rare Oval Office address on Sunday night – a day after a gunman tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.

“My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember that while we may disagree, we are not enemies, we are neighbors, we are friends, coworkers, citizens, and most importantly we are fellow Americans,” the 81-year-old president said.

“Yesterday’s shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us to take a step back, take stock of where we are and how we go forward from here,” Biden said.

After all the stuff he and his side has thrown at Trump and our side that has ramped up the political tension that resulted in the s**t coming dangerously close to the fan yesterday, and now he wants to make nice? No sale. All of the poltical violence, all of the dreams amd threats of political violence, have come from the Left. He needs to address his own constituancies who applaud the attack on Trump and whose only regret is that it failed.

My assessment, he did rather well in presentation, was emoting a good bit, though he ran sentences together a lot, stuttered at times. The content was sophomoric and pedestrian, variations of slogans strung together interspersed with "protect democracy", which apparently is their cornerstone slogan and they're sticking with it. No doubt another effort by the staff GenZ whiz-kids, and it shows.
