Law enforcement officials admitted it was “surprising” how the gunman was able to get so many shots off in the attempted assassination on former President Donald Trump before he was taken out by Secret Service snipers.
During a press conference early Sunday, officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police deferred several questions about security to the Secret Service — who were notably absent.
When asked if he was surprised at the number of shots the gunman was able to take at a former president, Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, said: “It is surprising but, to get all the details of that will come out later in the investigation.”
“The Secret Service really needs to answer that question,” he added, noting that they are in charge of securing the scene and the FBI were just there to support them.
Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens attempted to offer a defense for the Secret Service over the security lapse that nearly caused Trump his life.
“In their defense, what I would want to say is it is incredibly difficult to have a venue open to the public and secure that against any possible threat against a determined attacker, that’s a huge lift to try and do it,” Bidens told reporters.

“I am surprised (not) that the roof tops were not secured or that people on the ground were yelling ‘he got a gun’ and ‘he is on the roof’”
People on the ground (attendees outside) WERE yelling to Police, and motioning to SS, exactly that. They started as the guy was going to the roof with a long gun. For FOUR MINUTES before the shooting started. LEOs & SS Agents ignored them.
The observers knew it was bad. They’re PA boys and know their guns. First day of deer hunting season is a holiday in PA — unofficial, but observed by almost everyone. I was going to apply for a job at GE in Sayre, PA, and one of the holidays was/is first day of hunting seasons.
Bet our so-called allies in Europe aren’t surprised.

FBI SURPRISED! they knew he was there and gave him time to do it and then took him out immediately, we all heard the comments during the maylay, the shooter is down seconds after Trump went to the floor. Pretty quick, which means they knew where he was and had him in thier sites, lying scumbags!

You could tell by the way the lard-ass chick handled her gun; she was clueless. Took her six tries to insert the weapon into her holster. And when she had it out, her wrist was limp and she was flopping the gun around like when I was a kid and played Cowboys and Indians.

Last night, someone here pointed out that the SS (FBI?) agent (let’s call him Jack Ruby) who killed the shooter (let’s call him “Oswald the patsy”) was “sus”. Before anything started, he was staring in the direction of the shooter, but did nothing. AFTER the shots were fired, he took him out. Apparently, all according to plan.
People DID see him. People DID tell LEOs. They were ignored.

As far as I’m concerned the secret service dropped the ball.
I counted at least 4 secret service agents that were 5’5” or shorter. One of them was on top of Trump after the shots were fired and walked him off stage for cover from the press camera stage, giving a clear shot at Trump’s head several times until he was in the SUV. I would say safely in the SUV, except 3 of the short agents all lined up to protect the windows of the SUV from possible shooters with the top half of their heads just clearing the bottom of the windows... Then it looked like all 3 of them were running around in different directions looking for the right direction. That’s when the 4th short agent appeared with automatic weapon drawn and pointed at the crowd as the SUV departed.
I saw them drag someone out of that crowd yesterday and it wasn’t a guy on the roof.
Years of gaming training I would bet.
This whole thing would be understandable if it was a highly elaborate plan. This was about as simple as it gets.
On the other side, the active President has significantly better security than a former President/candidate. Some of that is a matter of resources.
I don’t blame the local police for not acting quickly when told there was a man on the roof with a rifle. They may have assumed that every roof had a man with a rifle, because many of them did.
SS officers on the stage did a great job. They were covering him within 1-2 seconds. But it did seem that they dithered in some confusion once he was in the truck about what to do and where to go. But, he was in level 4 armor.

You are right....Trump's head was clearly visible as they were taking him off the stage.
